Mark, Did you check Panasonics site for an updated driver. Were you running Win95 before or are you just reinstalling Win98? Did you use a Win98 upgrade or Win98 Second Edition Full version? Not sure if any of that is the problem. Just throwing out ideas!

Mark...does it use a sccsi adapter? If so you have to turn it on befroe you boot up your puter, or it won't see it!
Another way, if you are already booted up, go to Start, Settings, Options, Control Panel, System, Device Manager, and click on Refresh. That will ley your puter find it.
If that doesn't do it, a big eyebolt thru it, and voila...ya got a new boat anchor!

Did you install the scanner/software after you installed Composer?

Sometimes scanners like being installed AFTER installing all the software that will be accessing the scanner.

I know my UMAX is like that sometimes.

thanks guys for the help!
Bob Rochon and Jeff Lange called me on the tele and the best thing to do is to junk this old scanner because it is not compatible with windows 98.

i especially liked captain neve's step by step photos above. LOL

thanks bob and jeff for taking the time out of your busy day to offer assistance.
