I need some help. A customer wants a couple small aluminum signs. They have to read "Arcade under video surveillance" & " Redeem arcade tickets at the ticket window". Both need to be in Spanish. Any help from our Latino Letterheads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rob

1. Arcade under video surveillance
Ok, the word for Arcade is Arcada. But If you wouldnt have asked, I'd have never looked it up.[At least I've never heard a 'rican (or cuban) say it].If you asked me, I'd just change the word arcade for area.
"Area de máquinas bajo vigilancia de video." Or, "Esta area está siendo grabada por video." (This area is being videotaped.")
2. Redeem arcade tickets at the ticket window
Translating this word for word to spanish wouldnt sound right. This sounds better, IMHO
Pase por la ventanilla para redimir sus taquillas.
Hope this helps!

I almost forgot. When typing in Spanish, you need some extra letters.
á alt+160 é alt+130 í alt+161 ó alt+162 ú alt+163 ñ alt+164 Ñ alt+165 ¡ alt+0161 ¿ alt+0191 Exclamations & questions have the little thingamagigs upside down in the beginning of the sentence.
Capital letters don't use accents, so <Donnie Brasco> "Fo'gettabout it"

Felix you have been a great help. I live in an area of Massachusettes where there is a large population of Hispanic. I sometimes run into this problem. Maybe it's time for me to learn a second language.

My wife is from Louisiana, but lived up in Haverhill for a few years. Yeah, she tells me it's polluted with us! Glad I could help.

Hey Felix, does your wife speak spanish with a Louisiana accent?
As I type, she's rolling on the floor laughing you know what off!!! That was a good one! About the Spanish, she's real shy but she speaks it very well... as long as there's no one around that she knows!
