does anyone have any ideas or pics of work they've done on construction site fencing...it would be about 10 or 12 feet high and 200' long....the mall call it hoarding. is that what it's known as? weird word....

the outline is....airbrush style, fun, lively, vibrant. maybe flowers, trees, something like that....probably something of a repetitive nature....repeat a few designs over and over down the line.

as much as anything i'd like to see some pics to give me inspiration. if i lived in the city i'd just drive around town looking at construction sites. but, they don't go for too fancy of fence graphics here in the sticks.

Daisies and flutterbys! Make two large templates out of tensile cardboard, spray the base colors with cans and then use your airbrush/touch up brush to make 'em all different looking. Fast and bright!

Why not lay on some big bright shapes with a roller with a complimentary edge airbrushed on, then a few fanciful flowers and the names of the stores that will occupy that area?

Better yet...ask the architech what he/she would like...good way to get a foothold in the construction door.

i do want to meet the architects. i see some great mall work in my future with an addition going in. i have been painting for the mall since christmas '99....this year i have been used by the mall for 5 jobs already and this new job next.

i think they should just put me on the payroll....every mall needs a resident artist don't they

you guys combined got some ideas going in my head. i'm picturing these simple flowers or ? with the airbrushed edge, like an aura. i like it!

they probably will be putting up the "information" like store names or for lease signs etc using some other sign method. likely something i don't do.....but, we'll see....

Who is going to do the concept of the graphics (You or them)
Include your price in Ideas...
I have done a few hoarding walls as the building was under construction.
But the Idea was supplied by the contractor.
All I had to do was follow the pattern along the walls.

It was a repeat of failing blocks with outline figures.

More than one project but all they are looking for is something that is happy for the customer as the work is being done behind theses walls.

Don't get to involved as you know it will be ripped apart in a month or 2 or 3 after the fact.
Simple work at a good price!
Brushes with latex paints on dry wall is all you need to do!
This is not something that's going to be forever...
Work yourself to dead to get it done.

And I will assure you they will call you back when the time comes to do the permanent graphics.
Good Luck on your price and work..(Make their Deadline if you like to see more projects headed your way!)

A job similar to wht you are describing was our first big project a few months after we started in 1990. A new mall was being built and about 30 stores were not going to be completed by opening day. The mall contracted us to put Coming Soon...(the store name and logo) on the hording. Plus multi coloured maple leafs...it was a fall opening. We had two weeks to do it and worked until 4:00 am the day of the grand opening to get the last 5 or 6 on the hording. The last two days before opening there were about 1000 contractors and retailers in the mall finishing off about 10,000 details.

The mall became our biggest long term customer. Amoung other things we make signs for them announcing new stores coming or existing tenants moving to a new location. We have probably made 100 of them over the years. Also have made hours decals for all the doors, special event signs, mall walker club signs and signs for the temporary vendors that set up in the corridors during the Christmas season. Just recently we made and installed 3 sets of 3D octolux/PVC letters on their new customer service booth and are about to do the same for a community booth they have ordered.

Do a good job on this one and you will have jobs for many years to come. Break a leg!

If you use the banner/butterfly one, maybe you can put the store's name in each store front area. it would be less work than painting a lot of flowers and trees.

your pattern is a little on the light side as for the graphics... you have 2 base items ( trees and butterflies)
Add a couple more into it flowers,animals..Whatever.

Talk to the mall managment and get involved with the plans.
Ask what stores are going behind some of the hoardings?
See if they want to place a
"Coming Soon to this location!(Company Logo)"

Could make yourself some extra bucks from this. ask if they like just a generic logo or company logos.

i think they are going to incorporate my airbrush graphics with store names and/or whatever information they usually put up.

i'm not actually a sign person. i don't have the plotter or tools to do the lettering of a bunch of store names. i could do a large main sign, though.

you're right, what i need is more info on the rest of the graphic stylings. i'm trying to think of an idea that leaves space for the unknown and well, it's just not working.
