Whats the humididty level in your shop? This could be a problem. Ive had this problem at the company i used to work for. Try the RLA tape from R tape, it seems to be stronger, its a little more expensive but it'll save you the headaches!
Hope this helps!

Glenn..A couple of ideas...

First...application tape comes in various "tackiness" light, medium and strong. Make sure you get the stuff with medium or strong adhesive.

Second, and this is one that has caused me problems in the past. Before weeding the vinyl make sure you wash your hands to get rid of the oils on your skin and at this time of the year when you are probably working in short sleeves, wash your arms too. It is amazing how much skin oil gets transfered to the vinyl while you are weeding and this will cause the transfer tape to not stick to the vinyl.

Yup yup....Davey's right in there. One other question....is the film premium or economy? The low tack premask sometimes doesn't work well on economy.

I find that LIFT OFF tape from Richards Distributing is better than R-Tape....

I agree with Tasmus, I like LIFT-OFF much better than R-Tape. I won't use anything else.

We were using Trasferite most of the time and then switched to Conform-Rtape. We thought this was the holy grail of tape until we were installing on a nice hot day. The tape starts turning a yellowish color when it sits in the sun and then when you try to apply it releases from the vinyl. When indoors or a cold day...it works great.

Yes, I agree that 'Lift-off' IS the BEST.

I got a sample sent to me when I ordered their (Richards Distributing) tape dispenser.

Gotta' get me some more.

Do they advertise here? They should (if they don't) after this plug.

Rather than lifting the letters along with
the application tape, try turning the work
over with the application tape facing down on your work table. Peel the backing paper away from the lettering. This seems to work
much better than trying to peel away the
application tape with the letters attached.

Certain brands of vinyl also make this a pain. Avery vinyl is notorious (sp?) for sticking to the backing paper, especially if your cutting is alittle too deep.

make sure your blade is sharp.

if the blade doesn't "kiss cut" the vinyl,
then the blade is cutting too deep into the backing.

when a blade gets dull, we all tend to add more weight.

i have found that is one of the reasons why the vinyl doesn't want to release from the backing.

in effect the blade is cutting through the vinyl and the backing.
thus the application tape is trying to pick up the vinyl and separated cut lines of the backing.

maybe it is not your application tape causing the problem.

food for thought
