I just received a request for several showcards.....a request I don't often get although I love to do these because you can really let those creative juices loose. On most of my previous showcards I used illustration board simply because of the color selection. Just curious about what other board material showcard letterheads are using these days?

Crescent makes the material, but I can't think of the exact name off hand. It comes in a lot of colors, 14 ply, size 28 x 44 and has a clay coating, which makes it possible to make minor corrections. I usually prefer the dark colors and the ecru. I have used textured matte board for customers who wanted a dry brush effect, also comes in colors, but is a lot harder to use and warps easier.

Gary ...... Lucky You! I was just reading about Bob Harper and all his old showcards in Vegas. Sheesh! what talent. I started out doing showcards. Some used to spell it S~h~o~c~a~r~d~s. I never knew which to put on my business cards. I miss doing those SHOCARDS. I used Cresent Mattboard all the time. I too liked the dark backgrounds. White ink. Great fun.
I am with Mike & Cheryl...Crescet is the best! Used to do tons of them, but that was "long ago and far away"! Very few calls for them anymore...seems like vinull on coroplas has replaced them.

Hi Gary I find that Styrene to be a good product for enamel and vinyl graphics as a Shocard... Your not looking at those .25" lines running through the copy. even though it's a soft substrate you can give it a once over with a clear coat to help. Two sides can be done and you don't have to worry about the transparence of it...
