Today is the first day for our latest addition to the staff of Mark Fair Signs.

My daughter Katie Fair, 10 years old, will be assisting her dad for the summer.
Katie just got through weeding a whole bunch of vinyl letters.
she is a wonderful vice president! LOL

how many of you bring your kid to the shop to help out?

This summer will be the third summer that my son Tyler (now 8) will tag along with Dad to work. Most days it is nice having him around to help out where he can but then there are those days I wish I could ship him off to camp! He has his own "office" up in the loft of my shop that he can do his own thing (and keep the mess hidden).

Congrats on the new apprentice !!!!

Does she sweep up too ?!!

It must be great to have your little one around with you. Patrick's only 4 right now, so he is a bit more to handle right now. Sometimes on Saturdays, I'll come in to do paper work and he doodles on the bench with markers. Kinda has a hard time with negative space right now - but he's trying .

Here's his first attempt with a brush...

It's also his first Letterhead meet!

Good luck with Katie; you are very blessed.

Take care Pal!!

Way to go Mark, start them in early.
All 5 of mine helped out, 2 still work full time. The grand children now help out when we have a big job.

You're on the right track Mark, I used to take my daughter with me to help out when I started out painting Christmas windows. So teach them much as you can, cause they grow up quick.
Now I will go visit her, my son in law and my two grandchildren this week end. The last time they came to visit me it took awhile to get used to the screaming of kids again, but it was fun.

Congratulations Katie on your new summer job. I just know that you and Sally will be great assistants for Mark, as he turns out more stunning work.

Mark, these times spent with your children, as they grow up will become more priceless, as time passes. All too soon, she will develop other interests and friends, and the lure of those will begin to tug more strongly. When she passes into her teen years, she will naturally wish to spend much more time with her peers & friends, and less time with mom & dad. Before you know it, she will become a young woman, and wish to assert her independence. When that day arrives, these times spent together, will become the precious memories that you'll have for a lifetime.

Enjoy each other's company today, and for the whole summer to come. I know that you're investing your time wisely.

Well let's see... just last night I was running behind in bookwork, so I brought 2 yr old Cody up into my shop with me for abit. LOL! Can any of you relate?!?

The key to my filing cabinets is missing, he jammed up my printer twice, I have new pen art all over my desktop, I found a roll of premask at the bottom of the staircase, I'll spare you the rest.

He's a gem to spend time with, but a little easier in his own zone for now. I love my little bub and I know I have lots to look forward to in the years to come when he matures abit more and learns respect with objects.

I try not to look too far ahead, for those days will come with time. For now, I enjoy my chubby cheeked little one. He still wants me to cuddle with him when he drinks his milk. Ahhhh!
