this mag is not only about signs it is about "sign art".

Terry and Bridget Colley put on one incredible meet!

there is no way to describe the work contained within.

hats off to letterville's very own Cam Bortz.

Thanks. I especially liked to center spread on Dave Smith's Bull and Brush glass project. That's the only time, at a letterhead meet, that I heard a collective gasp of admiration when it was uncovered. A lot of folks, myself included, spent a lot of time just staring at that thing, taking in the details. Magnificent is not too strong a word.

I spent about two hours of "unproductive" time today reading this month's mag - cover to cover.

I think I'll be having some good dreams tonight!

For those here who don't, subscribe to this magazine! You will not regret it!!

Did I miss something here??????

is there a meet at Pat King's shop sometime in September??

Is Pat King's shop in Alabama?

How do I get from Canada to Alabama?

heheheheheheh I know...I'll get my buddy Steve Shortreed..opps AKA "DaMayor"..to guide me there..or MAYBE there will be a "guiding star"?

Who knows?..

All I know is..Shirl and I will be there..WITH GRITS! (got some leftover from the last "Dixie Meet"..Thanks Jimmy!)

For any of you folks that haven't been to a meet yet and feel intimidated about attending one..try to make it to Pat King's meet...You will be welcomed with open arms! AND you will be talking to folks that post here all the time..some of them talk "funny" but all of them talk the truth!

This has been a blatent publicity promotion of Pat King's meet..not paid for by Pat King!!!!

Mark,
Whenever I start thinking that I'm getting good in this bidness, I just pull out any issue of AMAL and get an instant dose of humility. The stuff in there is mind-boggling. And I'm sure Cam will agree with me that the photo of Dave Smith's glass masterpiece could not have done it complete justice- during the meet, there was always a small mesmerized crowd around it, staring in amazement. There were also many incredible pieces from that meet that didn't make it in the mag. Some great shop trucks too. (not to mention the highly plagiarized Big Arse English Stout" shirts)

Steve, I think that's Doc's fax number. The shop number is 800-726-3505. Also, they've got a great deal on back issues, $5 each or $75 for all 20 ($200 worth plus they come in a handy dandy binder). These things are keepers, get 'em while you can! I've been hooked on this mag ever since Mike Meyer gave me a copy at my 1st meet at Mark Fair's! It's downright addictive!

Oh yes, hats off to the Doc, a really terrific job of showing the incredible talent our brothers across the Atlantic have.
Hats off too , Terry Colley for a great job of bringing everyone together. When talent comes from as far as Australia and New Zeland It has to be good. Just like in the States, the people are just as nice.

Hi Mark...Got AMAL the udder day (Mike Meyer's best buddy Elmer bought me a subscription) It is overwhelming.
The artists featured are all just so damn good that it makes me want to roll up in a ball & die. I am at best, a fair painter with questionable letter forms. I didn't know what negative space was till Mike Meyer told me about it back in 1993 or so! At that time, it was like when you go home from a restaurant & look in the mirror, only to find that you have a smidgen of broccoli stuck in your teeth, but nobody told you!
I love the craft so much, tho, that I persist. I know I will never possess even an eighth of the talent of those across the pond, or here. But dammit, I love looking at all that gorgeousness! Excellent, Duuude!
Love- JILL
