Obviously, his stuff does what it was intended to do, and bully for that, but why have we turned our collective noses up at that new vinyl suppplier that just joined up as ( I can only assume) a paying merchant to this site?
Double standard? Or do you just not like the clumsy hardsell approach...?
I have never met you Roger, but you must be a heckuva guy....to have such a fan club over app juice and solvents.

I however do not think that many persons here have actually met him but I'm sure he has helped many along with free samples as well as direct phone calls.
Don't you think its good to see a CEO from a large company participating on a bulletin board such as this one?
I know I would appreciate if more advertisers participated in the way Roger does.
As a matter of fact, there are more and more advertisers and merchants partipating here on the BB everyday.
Letterville is somewhat like a newborn, that is, it will take a while longer for other companies to realize what persons here generate towards their revenue and in time you will see more like Roger participating.
I believe persons who participate here appreciate the value of having persons like Roger, Pierre, Kevin and Rogers brother Jack showing us new products and helpful ways to improve the overall appearance of our craft. Even signage experts and journalists such as Jerry Mathel, Dave Draper and Francisco Vargas all participate on this BB.
Don't you think that these are some of the reason why this BB is great?

Let's face it. Advertising in a live forum like Letterville is very different from more traditional advertising formats such as print, tv, radio and even direct mail. The biggest difference here is that the ads talk back. You get immediate feedback.
I'm glad Roger and our other Merchants have shown the belief in their product, as well as some courage, in sticking it out here in Letterville. Today he is not only a Merchant, but one of our neighbours. He participates in all Topics and refrains from using the BB to blatantly promote Rapid Tac. Roger and a handful of others, have managed to put face on their corporation. This breaks down the "them and us" barrier that often exists between suppliers and their end users.
We don't mind if Roger gets a free plug from time to time. He always pays his way, and as long as he isn't plugging himself, we have no problem. Merchants are always welcome to answer questions and set things straight when problems develop.
There is one issue that drives us nuts. It has come to our attention that some of you are being offered free product in return for posting plugs here. This may seem harmless, but it denies Letterville badly needed advertising revenue and insults those Merchants that pay to play.
A few weeks back, we had a great discussion here about copying fonts and other trademarked material. In the end, we all agreed it was an issue of integerity. We feel offering Letterville users free stuff in return for plugs, just as important.
Barb and I want to thank Roger and all the other great Merchants that contribute to Letterville, not only with their products, but with their time and help.

I still don't think his products are necessary for most of my applications but when they are I do use them and I do endorse them.
Sure is interesting that some folks are giving away product to have people promote things in Letterville! Kinda makes you wonder just how important this place is!!!!!

ummm excuse me?
I mean I really don't care whether he plugs himself or not, but he does do that...constantly...I would make a ridiculous joking example here, but I am too tired.
I noticed the fact that roger is always plugging his stuff, which is why I ever even noticed him.
Like I said, I don't care that he plugs his stuff, in fact it is actually funny...I sometimes read posts and can guess the ones Roger is gonna pop in with...
Like Old Paints recent post about using the 4 inch screen...somehow to remove adhesive from something... (OPingenuity I guess, love ya Joe )
Now Joe was telling a little tale of what he did, not asking "geez what can I take this adhesive off with?"
Just a lil story tellin' and here comes Roger...PLUGGING (need we the quote?) Rapid Remover....
Which is all good! it is neither my concern NOR my affair what he does, or how he does it to promote his wares, but lets not say he NEVER shamelessly plugs himself...for t'ain't true...
That said, I want to reiterate that I did not, do not want this to be seen as some type of rant or attack....I do indeed stir the pot, but that is kinda how you see what's in the dang thing.
Steve, if you see this as out of sorts or out of hand, please just delete the thing...'cause I never meant to ruffle feathers.....
But since I did, why are they?
Peace,
Barry

You say you are "just kidding" or "having some fun at Rogers expence" "don't anybody get their feathers ruffeled" well, what are you saying Barry ??
I'm not telling anyone that I don't "plug" my products, anymore then I tell(or ask) anyone to get on here and plug them for me !!
As many of you know, Joey Madden, Jerry Mathel are a couple of letterheads I know(they were in my neck of the woods till I moved)be asured that I NEVER asked them to PLUG my products(infact I can show you invoices that prove they don't get it for free ).
Barry, if the fact that I get on here(at letterville) and enjoy a topic or two, and
DO plug my wares(in an appropiate method)when someone talks about a situation of similarity, or a problem they may have.
Then why don't you just come out and say so(without the guise of "having fun at my expence") I don't know if I'm bothering anyone else, but if so might they please be honest enough to state it outright.
Under those conditions, I will gladly take my toys and go home(or somewhere Barry).
I have a lot of enjoyment coming here, and I(as others) learn something nearly everyday(always love to learn) not all things I learn are sign related (hope you don't mind OT posts too)but important or fun at NO ONES EXPENCE Barry !!!!

Love the belly flop line, I really did laugh out loud!!
Roger, relax. If I owned rapid tac, I might likely do the same thing. God knows I am agressive in sales around here.
I know you actually believe in your product, and I feel strongly that you promote it here not just to make a buck, although that must be powerful motivation too .
I believe you plug it in an effort to help a group of folks you actually feel kinship with, which is a rare thing from a fellow in your position. You could just as well be a faceless coroporation, but you don't, you get right "in the trenches" with the heart of the industry, and people can sense your sincerity.
So I join Mark Fair in the hats off salute.

Just adding my 2 cents in the mix. I've been putting on vinyl since the mid 70's. We had to invent our own application soulutions.
We had to figure out how to work with different solvents to remove the glues as well, when removing vinyl.
I have been a tad bit skeptable of the new products like Rapid Tac or Action Tac or whatever else is out there. I heard stories how the people who sell spring water at $1.00 a bottle just pump it out of their well on their tiny little ranch out in Montanna somewhere, no quality control and..it made me mad....and for a long time
I felt aplication fluids were made in sombody's sink and marketed to rip off the unsuspecting "newbies" in the industry.
Well, times and attiudes have changed around here at least a little. At the Brushfire meet in Indiana, Rapid Tac and Rapid Remover free samples were in abundant supply.
I tested the products....just to find fault.
Couldn't find any faults with the product.
And it certainly smells better than the home made mix I was using.
I give Roger 2 thumbs up for his products.
I give Roger 2 thumbs up for defending his product publicly.
I give Roger 2 thumbs up for taking time to personally help others with problems. I really respect that.
I give Roger 2 thumbs up for supporting this website.
I give Roger 1 thumb down in only one area.
I dissagree with comments made that say alcohol shouldn't be used as a cleaner and surface preparation, or that there are no comparable products locally available as cleaners and surface preparation.
So, Roger has won my hard ass over.
