Okay, I'm a newbie,

But I am very curious on how alot of you warrant your work. Right now, I'm developing my approach, and I have to admith that I am stumped.

Do you just pick an arbitrary number of years? Do you warrantee for the duration of the vinyl manufacturer's claimed durability? Or do you even warrantee at all?

I'm confused........and listening,
Thanks,
Shane

I guarantee all my work stated on a 'Care Card". But then again, I have a little experience and know-how for what can be guaranteed and what colors cannot.

All my work comes out of a can........

No matter how you choose to state it or for how long you may cover it.
The most important step is to be there when its time, I mean customers will spread the word about you, good or bad.
Sometimes(even if it wasn't your fault )its easier and better for buiss. to spend a little, and "save a lot".

We don't guarantee everything, but replacing a bit of vinyl on a sign will do nothing but good for your business. Refusing to spend a couple of dollars on redoing some work will hurt you.

Interesting, and points well taken.

But what, generally, is the length of time you good people warrant your signs for?

Here is my rough rule of thumb warranties:

MDO Plywood Signs: 1 year
Alumalite/Econolite/DiBond: 4-5 years
Corplast: 6 months
Banners: 5 minutes or 30 mph winds (whichever comes first)
Vehicles: 3 years
Magnetic Signs: 5 minutes or 55 mph (again, whichever comes first)

My windows are warranteed as long as they think they need them. I have one on the north side under a canopy that was done in 1990 and is still burning gas @&@(*(!)!!$%.

I use oil based enamels and my windows have endured hail, deer, bullets and trucks. I have yet redo one for free. Even the Taco Bell window that was shot out in a robbery with me standing out front with my camera taking pictures of the two masked bandits, fleeing was not warranteed for free, despite the fact that three people were killed and I photographed the bandits driving away which nailed them. They killed the manager and I had to play hell getting someone else to sign off on the job at the time. What is the world coming to?

I find if you give people what they want, they are smart enough to never take advantage of you, if you are always fair and give them top notch quality when they buy in the first place....another reason I do virtually no work in vinyl. It just ain't as bulletproof!
