Any input on the best vinyl to use on a banner that will be exposed to the outdoor elements and also folded for shipping purposes. It also will be pushed back like a curtain. The lettering is only three inches tall by 30" on a 40+ inch tall vinyl banner material. I am currently using MacSoft but the corners have peeled back on letters after being folded for shipping. It's a big job and I want to use the "right stuff". Thanks! The manufacturer was having these silk screened but wants to go to a decal instead.
Can you tell us how the other "macsoft" was applied(in detail) ?

I never fold banners. They are always rolled with the vinyl on the outside. If you have to ship it...roll it and put it in a cardboard or plastic container. or make your own out of two 20" old vinyl cardboard rolls. Good luck....hope this helped a little? Oh and always use HP vinyl for banners that will be used over and over.
Cheryl and Si are right, never fold. I like Cheryl's advice about the containers. I also lay a length of paper ( purchased in rolls from your vinyl supplier) over the banner, then roll. I find that if I give it to the customer rolled in paper they will take me seriously when I tell them not to fold when storing. Lot's of complaints are from folded banners and of course they blame us when the letters peel off.

Also to add to the life expectency of vinyl banners would be to always have a cardboard center core for rolling banners. I use the cores of finished rolls of vinyl by taping them untop of eachother, the length of the banner. In your case at three inches wide I would use the half inch core that comes with your fax paper. These cores are to prevent rolled banner from crushing, causing sharp cresess that causes vinyl to left at the edges.

Regarding the vinyl itself, I've been pleased with the results of using vinyl designed for the job. I use Avery banner vinyl, sticks well and doesn't 'tunnel' when rolled.
