Hey,
I used to work on GA which had a user friendly way of creating stripes of any quantity, of any gap. Now I'm on Flexisign and I am taking the "learning by doing" approach however, I cannot figure out how to create say a 1/4" X 15" stripe and repeat it 100 times at a 1/4" gap. The plot page has that panel box that kinda throws a monkey wrench in that whole concept..or am I missing something? The stripe function creates stripes from an existing box. Say I have a 10" X 15" box, how do I create the 1/4" stripes from within that, at 1/4" gap????

Hi Corey,

As a former GA user, I know what you are going through. Flexi does some things gerber doesn't and vice-versa.

What I would do in your example is;
1.) set your document size 10"x15"
2.) draw a rectangle .25"x15"
3.)select that rectangle and hit CTRL+C (or go to Edit then copy)
4.)then hit CTRL+V (or edit then Paste)
5.)keep pasting until you have 20 of them (1/4"stripe+1/4 gap=1/2"x20=10"
6.)select all of your rectangles, and go to ARRANGE, then Align, then Left
7.)Back to ARRANGE again, then Spacing,Select the vertical spacing put .25 in the box and you have it!

Maybe there is a quicker, easier way to do this but, that's how a self-taught dimwit from Oklahoma (me) would do it!

I've made lot's of stripes but never cared about the gap between them. (Assuming I'm understanding what you're trying to do) Try creating just one stripe by using the box tool and then go to "edit" and "resize" it to the size you want. Then go to "cut/plot" and put in 100 copies. One of the options there should let you gap it by 1/4". When I get to work tommorrow I'll check it out.

For 10 half-inch stripes in Flexi:

1. Draw a horizontal line the length you want.

2. In Step-Repeat, make 11 vertical copies ½-inch apart.

Make "one" stripe the size you want it to be and then go to "cut/plot" When production manager pops up there is a box that says "options" In there you will find the option for "copy spacing" so put .25 in that box. "Ok" that and set the copies to 100. That should do it.

Hi Corelation,

If you want to create the whole image in your work area and then send to plot just create your first stripe to size and then do a multi-copy to your choosing and spacing. Send that whole file to plot when you're done.

Bruce Williams, you nailed it! Cool! Thanks! Now I know one more thing 'bout Flexi! I tried Tony's suggestion first but found the copy spacing spaces the panel size but not the actual image.

Thanks, Corey. That means something, coming from a Canadian. I liked Flexi better than the other CAS when I went digital, and I like Corel better than any of them.

Since stripes are so easy in Flexi, there are a couple more tricks: Before you trash a vinyl scrap, you can save it as stripes -- or not. When you do cut stripes, you may find that 4 ft is about the longest that one person can handle alone, without re-enacting the Oriental-handcuffs routine.

When Scanvec and Amiable merged, I think there major blunder was in giving up on INSPIRE and replacing it with FLEXI. I have both now and INSPIRE is so much easier to use and has a lot more bells and whistles that are USEFUL, and not just gingerbread.

Never worked on Inspire but Steve King is a local here & an Inspire fan as well but, as of recently, has to learn the Flexi family.

Just for the record Bruce, I am a CALIFORNIAN
living life as a Canadian....3 years and running, I still haven't figured out why but, it's the only place I've been that I get homesick away from!! Maybe it has something to do with shoveling snow.?
