Hi there,
I first want to send a very special thanks to all you letterheads out there, I frequent the bulletin board often, and find many answers to my tech dilemmas.
I have just recently had an older model plotter given to me,I've tried to find imformation on the net about it but unfortunately all I have to go on is the info on the plotter " Ametek / HOUSTON INSTRUMENT DMP-60 SERIES (65-C)".
I don't have any books or program to go with it. A good friend of mine got it from the shop he works at. They used it for cutting ruby years ago for silk screen work. But have sence chanced over to more modern forms of production and no longer need the plotter to do there dirty work. I'm hopeing it will work as an intre level cutter to help build my independance from the use of my local sign buddys. Any information would be great.

I just did a quick search using "Houston Instruments" and came up with this site...it's at: http://lorand.net/pen.htm

You'll see that they apparently deal in used plotters, printers etc., and one of the Houston plotters is right there on the opening page.

Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the info, I geuss I wasn't useing the right search engine. I'm still wondering if it will work for cutting? Has anybody used one to cut with? I probably won't get time till next week to play with it but now I know where to get the drivers.

Ameteck is us (Summa)! But WOW, that goes way back. Here's a brief history. Bausch & Lomb opens a manuafacturing division in Gistel, Belgium, which evolves into a plotter maker (Ametek). Houston Intruments buys Ametek. Then Summagraphics buys HI. Calcomp buys Summagraphics. Westcomp buys the Summagrahics cutter division from Calcomp and changes the name to Summa. Wheeew! I (but, we aren't selling it to anyone!).

So, now we own some land and buildings in Gistel, Belgium (Boston and Seattle too). More importantly, we have many of the same folks who began with Ametek, then HI, then... Many have better than 25 years experience in this business (that's pretty much the beginning). Hence, it's no wonder that Summa builds the finest cutters on the planet.

acquired antique". Wow, the buddy I got it from said it had been around a
while, but.... I will be calling your shop in hope to find out a little
