About a year and a half ago I sold all of my AB's, except one. I wasn't useing them much anymore and got made a real sweet offer.

Anyway's low and behold this one Paache has died on me. Spent a half hour on the phone with R.T. the other day, tried everything still same problem...UUUUGGGGHHHHH

Decided just to buy a new one, probably an Iwata Eclipse...

Anyone bought one lately??? Who has the best price???? Checked "Bearair.com" they got it for $74.00+s/h. A local store wants about $50.00 more for same brush, no way I gonna do that.

I buy both at Bear air and mostly Dixie. The VL is a great brush I have almost a dozen of them. I have a half dozen eclipses which are great guns but unless you are totally comfortable with the guns, they are a little more sensative and tempermental than the VL's. I've only rebuilt 2 VL's since '83 but I've rebuilt 4 eclipses in the past couple years. You can bounce a VL but you can't bounce an eclipse. Dixie right now is selling the VL kit for $41.95 in the carded set the eclipse for $79 shipping incl'd.. Bear's VL's are $49 and eclipses $74 plus shippping. Hope I helped...

Go to Ebay, a million vl's at about 20.00 to 50.00 all the time. Larger art and hobby stores carry parts for the paashe too....bronzeo

I buy my airbrushes, and parts, from my local store. I know I can get it cheaper via the web, but, doin business over the web doesn't keep your local art store in biz.

I've bought 5 or 6 airbrushes in the past 15 yrs of doing this. Some for hobby, and most for work. As much money as you can, (and will), make off of this INEXPENSIVE tool, I don't see why you would'nt do business locally.

Step back and look at our markup. I sell 3X3' full airbrushed jobs for $800, I know for a fact that I don't have $20 in materials for those jobs. I usually just charge for the 10-12 hrs labor.

I use the Omni from Thayer and Chandler. I tried the Eclipse at a show once and it just didn't feel right. But this is one of those areas that what you are used to is what you'll probably prefer. Lay the two down side by side, you almost can't tell the difference visually. Actually, I was told that the Eclipse was copied from TC except for the reversible aircap guard on the Omni.

The biggest problem with TC is they did not get a bunch of high profile sign artists to push their product like Iwata does. Looks like a bad marketing decision on TC's part.

Bear Air is the best in my opinion. And I'll take the American made Omni at $52 over the Japanese import at $74 any day.
