Steve & Barb found this place, right here in Podunk (Amador County), with treasures galore. Actually, Steve talked to a classic car buff in downtown Volcano, who gave us the name of this guy in Martell who runs an automotive shop, and has rare artifacts all over his shop. Well, lo' & behold, we call, we go, we are awe-struck by the treasures this man has. He has Von Dutch's one & only leather jacket, under glass! I'll post that one later. But here's 2 pics of some artwork done by Von Dutch, just hanging from the ceiling! Only Steve & Barb could manage to find a treasure in the woods!

Side 2 of the same hanging

I know they are hard to see, but perhaps you can download it and enhance it a bit. It was dark and the overhead lights just wreaked havoc with my shutter. The man that owns this shop is very shy, very closed mouth. But I just might be able to squeak a few people in once in a blue moon. So if you're ever up this way, I'll try to get you in. He also has Ed "Kookie" Burns original "77 Sunset Strip" roadster, just hanging around in thr corner of his shop.
Unreal . . . .

About the VonDutch piece......
Dutch made it in 1970 for the Phoenix Art Museum Show...MOTORCYCLES AS ART. I was working with Dutch a little at that time....mostly hangin' out at his shop on Princess Drive in Tempe, Arizona. Even though I watched him make this thing....and even helped a little....I STILL don't know how the hell he did it!!!!! It's all made of cut out paper that ends up being a motorcycleon one side, and a "man" on the other. The trick was that it was all placed in ONE SIDE of the plexi....one layer of paper....forming the "man-cycle", with the motorcycle side "just happening". I'm probably not making much sense......you had to BE there!!In tiny, tiny print under the "man", it makes reference to
wonering about the "kickstand"!
This piece was lost for years and ended up for a time, at the GUGGENHEIM in NewYork, then, I believe, the Brucker Collection in Santa Paula, Cal. where Dutch last holed up
and died in '92! This item is the finest example I know that represents the mind of Von Dutch. A real "find"!
