1: I just bought a new wear strip for my PNC 1210. It has had mylar over the old strip since I bought it and I finally want to replace it.
Are there any special instructions for changing this critter?
2: What is the largest single letter you can create in Corel Draw? It seems as though about 28 or 29" is the max I can get without converting to curves.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or is the the norm?

Brian..I have never changed a teflon strip on a cutter so I can't offer any advice.
yes there is a limit to how large you can blow up a font. convert to curves is the only way around it. That I know of. I run into that all the time. What I do is make a note of the font name somewhere on the page if it is a wierd font that I have had to use. Just for future reference if need 2 years down the road.

1. Well here's how I did mine. Just dig out the old strip from one end and peel her up. I had a fair aount of glue residue down in the channel so I carefully put a little Rapid Remover in there and removed the rest of the glue with an itsy bitsy screw driver. When the groove is all cleaned out and dry just peel off the backer strip, start at one end and get that sucker down in there nice & flat and continue the rest of the way across.
2. I hate Corel so I don't use it.

brian, try TYPE 1 fonts...adobe fonts...you will need ADOBE TYPE MANAGER on your computer..i got a pnc-1000..with the original strip in it...bought it in 92... i dont have a problem with "normal" fonts at that size.....some of the cursive or ornate one will give you problems....i cut all day long from corel...and never a reboot

Brian as Dave said only I use a lli chisler to clear all the glue out after using the citrus glue remover then when clean wipe it down with isopropal alchol the lil chisler is good doesn't scratch also read my post about blades might save some headaches all the best

each of the fonts u use have a max size they can go to without u convert to curves... they are all different and u will find that the newer (stranger) the font the more the size is an issue.... plain old boring block letters seem to go on forever type1 fonts have different parameters and u can use them thru font navigator just like the ttf's i regularly cut 4' high letters on my router with no problems if the font of choice is sumfin that i am gunna use heaps of times i convert to curves and make a new font out of it with a diff max setting and a new name

Thanks everyone for the replies. I removed the mylar and the old strip. Cleaned out the groove with Orange-Peel, cleaned with Rapid-Tac and put the new one in. It was a whole lot easier than I expected.
Font Issue: At least you all gave me enough information that I understand Corel isn't going goofy on me. Thank you again...
