All I have in banner material is the one that accepts pressure sensitive vinyl. I am thinking of airbrushing a banner. I know that screen printing vinyl ink works, but does anything else work? I may not have all the colors.

I tried cleaning off some vinyl with alcohol and airbrushing a sample of Deka sign air, Createx Auto Air and Krylon. Not sure what to think of it.

Does anyone have any idea what works?

Screenprinting inks thinned with lacquor thinners will airbrush onto any vinyl banner surface and stick .. forever!

When you say you don't have the colours? If you have a PMS chart you will find 90% of most colours can be mixed from the primarys .. I only stock Black. white, reflex blue, process blue, process yellow, red, bright green and magenta

I paint (and airbrush) most of my banners and tents with ink because it is more durable and a lb of ink goes 10 times further than paint

Just use a mask when working with the thinners .. cough cough weeeez!

I airbrush vinyl with Krylon. Wipe with Laqure (sp) thinner first, and clearcoat with krylon also. Don't weed for 24 hors.

Whenever I do vinyl banners I use Enamel Koat. I suspect it is floor wax that is used on vinyl flooring. I hav'nt tried it yet but would make an interesting experiment.

Enamel koat works though with enamel paint.
Its water based and drys fast. I just roll it on with a cheap foam roller cover and it will recieve any enamel sign paints you got.

Gotta' go back to the hospital...my dad is on his last hours...would be 98 on the 10th of March...was going to celebrate mom and dad's 60th anniversary on March 3rd...that's cancelled.

Enaml-Kote is available through Best Buy Banner in Riverside, California and One Shot works great on it. It is NOT floor wax or Elmer's Glue.

One Shot and Chromatic both had vinyl primers I assume the still make one of them. I think the Chromatic one was better. Kevin Ledbetter is a letterhead, he would know. or go to the site http://www.1shot.com/
