I currently design in Signlab 5.0 expert. I also have Corel 7 select but did not get a manual with it. I see what others here can do in Corel with airbrush effects and such. I have messed around a little bit with the Corel but it is obviously different than Signlab. It seems much less user friendly than Signlab.(I'm not trying to start a war post on which one is better ) I'm wondering if there is anyone in my neck of the woods that is pretty good with Corel that wouldn't mind me seeing them design with it.

I aint near you but here's a few things to consider. What is your processor type & speed? How much video memory is on graphics card? is it agp or pci? How much ram memory (edo or dram/sdram)? Coreldraw 7 Select is a limited version of program. Don't know what's included with it - just know it's not full version. If you also have PhotoPaint installed, that's where you do your airbrushing(ab). Actually older versions (5) had better (ab) tools. (my opinion) But I'm using (7) so maybe 9 or 10 has improved (ab) functions. Don't know. Also, those (ab) effects you see might be blends.

You might try playing with the "Blend" feature in Corel and also the Linear/Radial fills. You can also buy an after-market book on most versions of Corel that will be worth their weight in gold if you don't already know the program. Corel 8 has a nice feature that lets you convert your designs to bitmaps and then use different effects such as Gaussian Blur. I use this all the time. This is the shadow that looks like smoke. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/ (look at the shadow on the logo in the upper right)
If you have an Edge, you can get some really nice looking jobs using this feature, clear vinyl and a little imagination. Also, there are sights on the internet with all kinds of Corel tips and tricks. It is "a great program".....

Jeff, There are some good BB sites that talk about Corel programs. <A HREF=http://www.i-us.com> and follow some links from there to other Corel sites like, corel unleashed. There's a world of info there. Also the tutorials on the Corel CD has some good places to start. Don't know if the 'Select Edition' comes with PhotoPaint but that is where you need to really do your bitmap work for 'airbrush' effects. Draw version 7 is limited in the bitmap effects, 8 has a few more and 9 & 10 have several things you can do without going into Paint, but Paint is where the special stuff is done the easiest. We're several miles south of you in West Tennessee but would be glad to show you some pointers if you can make it down this far.

Jeff, try Ebay. I had bought Corel 7 from a buddy of mine but he had lost the manuals. I bought a complete set of manuals on Ebay for $7. Then I bought Corel 7 select for $9 and set it up on my home 'puter. Also, Corel 7 for Dummies is pretty good. Good luck.
