I hate to post twice here, but this hit me. Nicknames. ALmost everybody has them. Either you get them from your parents, or your friends, or someone else that just utters a certain phrase that sticks to you. When I was very young, my mother called me Tater one day in front of my friends. It stuck. I been Tater ever since. Played organized softball for twenty years, and almost everybody knew me as Tater, but couldn't tell you my real first name. Actually, I'm kinda proud of it. It sure aint as bad as some I have heard. Come on now, anyone got a nickname you're stuck with that you'll share with us?

I will probably regret this.....

In public school, my friends called me Brenny Bear. Not sure when or who started it...but I'm 30 years old and still can't hide from that name.

The worst experience was when I was in College and thought that I had escaped "Brenny Bear". I was with all my new classmates on my 3rd day of school. I was trying to be cool...you know...new friends and all. Then all of a sudden I heard someone from down the hall yell "BRENNY BEAR!". Needless to say, that stuck in College and still today. I hate that person now..lol

Ahh, Tater good post... good of you and Brenny Bear to open up. I have a friend named John who as a young boy could not pronunce a friends name "Joseph" he said "Jofe" which his brother found hillarious, now I would say only a few people Know his name is John...

As for my nickname, The Landlord of my old shop use to call it out every time he saw me, him another customer who didn't know each other started doing it then it just stuck. I think the landlord told me "Captain Ken" was the #1 morning DJ on local radio.

Fellow Letterhead read my sign on name(which is how I sign all my artwork!....PKing.... followed by the statement:"Like the Duck?"
From there yet another Letterhead started calling me DUCKIE. Which makes my New Wife

My last name doubles as my nickname. As long as I can remember many close people called me "Happy" and it's the same for my son as well as my brothers. I have to say that our unique surname (which is an Anglicized version of a name East-European in origin) makes it easy for people to remember me for business purposes!

Happy Signing.....Marty

Well...

Kookaburra, the nickname I use on chat, originated from one of the first times I got into a chat room. It was a german chat room, and I wanted a nickname that was distinctly australian, but not overly common, like kangaroo, or koala.. So Kookaburra (or Kookie for short) it was.

Another nickname is the one my parents use for me... Potato... Sounds weird? Yep Get the way it came around:
Katie
Tatie
Tater
Potater
Potato

so there ya go
Now, none of you in here call me potato, you hear me?

I think I remember a time that joey was going by something else.... Grumpy...Sneazy....Dopey...or was it Doc? Happy?...no thats the other guy.
I had a friend growing up yhat was determined to get everybody a nickname, he would take the first sylabol of your last name and add "ip"! so I became McTip and Sweeney became "swip" and so on and so forth It would vary when needed i.e. brenda would be "B'pip"

My Dad gave me the moniker of 'Scootie' before I was even born, don't know why, just his form of warped humor to haunt me for life. Still my family and a few close friends call me that. When I played in a music group a few of the guys got to calling me 'Booker T' (from Booker T and the MG's because I played keyboard,,, though I'm not African American). My wife got the nickname 'Boop' from me because she's small and petite like 'Betty Boop' from the old cartoons. Funny how names get stuck on you from many different reasons.

I never had a nickname, nothing really rhymes with Adrienne, and I was always embarrassed by my name (too long and different) a group of girlfriends I've hung out with for years all have thier own, 'sept me.......

In chat I get called 'Rain' or 'Katt' for Rainkatt (old aol sign on name)
Ron Percell's been calling me 'A' whenever I call over to his shop. Guess it's because I've been signing my posts just A, simply because i'm too lazy to type out the whole thing.......
I dunno.....

oh, BTW...I named my daughter Christelle...cuz it's too long and different

I never really had any nicknames til' I started stripin'...except what Mom called me...

I used to sign all my work with a DH...One day my boss (a long time friend, also) came out, looked down, and said, "Who did this? Dick Head?!" and believe it or not, it stuck...kinda funny...

When I worked at Spevco, I used to call everybody 'dude' or 'man'...I was in one of those stages (called herbal dependence) and it just came second nature. I got to be known as "Dude" around there...I can walk in there tomorrow and someone will hollar out, "DUDE!!"...cool feelin'...

Nowadays, it's a lil' more complex. Some call me "Crash" or "Convict" (for that run-in with the law a while back), "Dude" (still hangin'), D---wayne (for those that just wanna drag it out), and on occasion, I get called "Dwayne"...
