i cannot believe how low some of these people are these days...
i had 2 signs out front... an 18x24, and a 24x36...
and they are now gone...
our neighbor saw someone in a red jeep pull in, run over to them, yank em out and drive away with them... i just drove by one of my competitors shops... he's a newbie... and guess what vehicle he drives...
you guessed it, a red jeep...
now that could be all coincidental... but i dont think so.. and im gonna ask my neighbor to stop in there to see if he can give a positive identification... but man...
im mad.
very mad.
but as my employee just said "that tells us something about our work... we must be good, and they must be worried, or they wouldnt be doing that crap"
i guess she's right. but im still mad!
thanks for the ear...
Christian

Rather than check the competitions vehicle, check the customer's as well.

I can't think why anyone would steal a sign, it's a bit useless to anyone other than the client it was intended for. ...

Good Luck with it.

Thieves deserve the long hand of the law if your neighbor can identify him, bring in the police. For punishment I would ask the judge to print his picture in the paper, with the story or like some states are doing make him stand on the corner of your lot wearing a sign, reading I STOLE THIS COMPETITORS SIGNS AND GOT CAUGHT THIS IS MY PUNISNMENT !

I went thru this too.

I out foxed them by welding a loop at the base of the post 6 inches from the bottom of a single stake 18 x 24 frame, and driving a 24" steel rod thru the loop like a big nail. I drive it deep enough to cover it with dirt.

This "tent peg" approach leaves 'em wondering why they can't pull 6 inches of 1/2 stake out of the ground.

Any manufacturers out there wanna add this as a feature would ensure others from stealing signs.

Geez Christian, that's ballsy behavior for anyone. Was this at night possibly, or early dawn? The advantage is yours since they think they were undetected. Getting that neighbor to go see if they can recognize the thieves would be great if they're not too uncomfortable with it. The chances are they'd rather not go, or would go but not be positive about identifying. But if they did - oh, if they did - call the cops immediately! Nobody likes to be 'the heavy'. But in my scale of things I don't like, being a hardass is better than being a victem. Whether the neighbor will go or not, let your friendlier sign associates and suppliers know that you were hit. The theives may be dumb enough to brag about it and it will get back to you. Speaking of being dumb, have you checked the areas around their shop and their dumpster? Wouldn't it be rich to find your mangled signs leaning up against the side of their building???

same thing happened to me when I had my shop. My A-Boards were stolen. Another time, I gave a bid on a window close by my shop. well I was too high and another sign shop got the job. They came in early early on a Sunday morning to do the job to avoid seeing me I think! (my shop was very close) Well, I just happened to come in to work that Sunday morning....and guess what! There they were hurrying to do the job..bubbles (bigguns) and all. Didn't even want to say hello! Isnt' it best just to be nice to each other? I would have enjoyed becoming friends with this other sign painter....(sigh) Oh well
