According to my records it must be near time to pay my letterville taxes, Barb if you still have it on file, Ding my card.. (if not, let me know). This is probably the only tax I pay without a grudge . I've got to admit I've done a lot more lurking this year than posting, but I still got a lot more than $75(cdn) value out if this place . Hopefully I'll have more time this year and do more posting. It's been an interesting year. I got to meet some great letterheads in Florida, Hi to Nettie, Don and Robert. It's great to meet people. I got my garage up (finally) 25'x60'x16h, it's been great having it, apart from having space to do big trucks, its wonderful to finally have enough space to turn around in. (Although I do seem to be filling it already ...) Been a good learning year as well, things go forward, The web site is coming along, I'll have pics up on it soon.. got it figured out, now it's just finding the time to do it right. Got a digital engineering plotter/scanner, it's not exactly something you find in most signshops, but I serve an industrial clientel in a remote part of the country and there was a need.. It carries it's weight. Had to learn to print CAD drawings . Autocad gotta be the unfriendliest bit of software I've tripped over yet. It can also print from corel, it's kinda neat to be able to print (b/w) 36" x whatever for pennies/sq ft. Got a niche market doing 400% enlargements from 8½x11, ends up being 34x44, costs pennies, takes seconds and earns dollars ... Signmaking is also evolving, since I've been hanging around here, (the past 2-3 years) we've gone from doing only industrial signage (DANGER - HIGH VOLTAGE) which doesn't require a lot of imagination, to doing a fair variety of commercial signs, some of which I can pass without hanging my head in shame . Industrial signage is still our bread & butter but we do have more fun with the commercial stuff. It's great to have a place like this to get ideas, help and also to be able to learn from somebody else's mistakes and experiences rather than learning from trial & error (.. and error .. and error .. and error).
My thanks to you all (ya'll for you southerners), not just Steve & Barb, for making this place what it is, a vibrant community in which I'm proud to pay my taxes.
I wish every one a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.
