Here's a happy spin off to Adrienne's popular pet peeve post.

I love the smell of coffee brewing.

I love it when you're already outdoors, and you catch a spectacular moment by chance, such as the leaves falling off the trees all at once from a gusty warm wind, the perfect quiet snowfall when nothing around you moves, the incredible double rainbow peeking through a misty sky that appears out of nowhere.

I love the high I get after a job very well done and I think to myself, 'Damn I'm good!'

I love coming home to a warm house, and smiling faces to greet me.

Donna, your such a romantic.....(so am I)

The look in your lovers eyes after a special moment.

Radiance from candlelite.

An ocean breeze on a moonlite night.

Watching a baby take it's first steps

My grandmother praying, giving thanks for her family

On the other hand.......

The smell of racing fuel.

The thunder of 1500 horsepower forcing adrinaline thru your veins.

Tears flowing from your eyes at 95 mph on the open water

The view from the heavens during a skydive jump

And the taste of BBQ on a saturday evening with your closest friends.

Wow ... now the list on this could go on and on! Like the energizer bunny!

First of all, I gotta agree with many of the ones mentioned already.
Mike, that "lover's eyes after a special moment" is an awesome response! Gotta agree with that one.

More highs for me are:

Contagious uncontrolable laughter with a friend(s) over pure silliness.

Surprising and touching someone with a gift of unexpected kindness. Likewise, being surprised in the same fashion. You know, the kind of thing that makes your eyes well up
with happy tears.

The smell of good food in the making.

Sitting back in an adirandack chair rewarding myself with a gin & tonic on a hot afternoon, while gazing over and admiring the lawn I just mowed.

The feeling you get after showering and getting dressed up for an evening out, after just being out in the sun all day. You know, that healthy glow feeling.

The last step of a 4 mile jog.

The ambiance of candlelight.

The warmth of a lit fireplace on a cold winter night.

The feeling of a hot bath on your frozen tootsies.

The feeling of the first gust of air conditioning after an excruciatingly hot day outside installing the sign from hell.

Curling up on the couch with a good read, two happy doggies at my feet, a cat in the nook of my knees, and no particular plan for the rest of the evening.

Compliments from appreciative customer's on a job well done.

Finding a bargain!

Just the right music belting loudly or crooning softly to match any given mood.

Those moments when you feel like your soul touched anothers.

Helping someone that appreciates it.

The times when a design develops that seems to perfectly fit the situation and is different from anything I ever did before.

Feeling thankful.

When I can articulate to someone how they deeply add to my life and their significance in situations.

Sometimes I'll pull a stroke while making an outline that just keeps going and going while making several bends and a doubleback and it feels like the best ride on the midway!

Watching one of my kids succeed at something they struggled with.

Watching prayers get answered.

The feeling of expressing gratitude to my creator and knowing my expressions were pleasing and acceptable to heavenly hosts.

Good one, Donna! There should be so much more stuff we are thankful for than stuff we can't stand in life. Here's some of the things I love:

Listening to & playing music.

Bible reading.

My beautiful kids & wife.

My diverse and mysterious family.

People, good friends.

God's grace.

Intelligent discussion.

Nature.

Driving on a deserted road.

A job well done.

Giving.

Good health.

Good food.

Watching a great ball game or sporting event.

Laughing with my kids.

Enjoying the beauty in creation.

Above all, a relationship with the Creator.

That's my short list.

Great Post Donna!

I love to stare up at the stars at night, and realize that no matter har far you can look into deep space, even with the most powerful telescope, there is no end to this perfect order. I love to choose to belive it was created and didn't just happen by accident.

I love the sounds of laughter from children on a playground or at the park.

I love the extra special time lyng in bed watching my wife asleep, soft hair covering her skin, while I am very very softly running my fingers over her arm or sholder.

I love coaching a baseball team of kids, especially the 11-13 year olds. ( that age group still shows some respect for an coach and they can play pretty darn good too! )

I love to go on and on, unfortunately, I love to make my customers happy by getting their work done on time...hahahahaah so I better stop now.

Soft, mellow notes from a Nylom stringed guitar or saxophone.

A good Bluegrass band.

The beautiful smile of my lovely wife and the smell of her wonderful cooking.

Hearing our children (especially my daughter) laugh with delight.

Wrestling with my 8 year old son.

The comraderie and anticipation while hunting with my 12 year old.

The smell of Mama's fireplace.

A happy customer and a job well done.

Freshly ground coffeebeans.

Snuggling on the couch with my youngun's.

The wild bark of a beagle chasing a rabbit.

The smiles and squeals of a baby.

Cute things that kids say.

I could go on and on.

Ha, Donna, you read my mind!!

I had the most wonderful morning this morning, and was going to post a topic about what makes people happy!

A few years ago we renovated our attic into a huge master bedroom and finally got our gas fireplace hooked up yesterday. I woke up this morning, stars still twinkling thru the skylight, and a fire burning in the fireplace. I just didn't ever want to get up, yet was excited for the day to begin. What a positive note to start my day!!

I love it when my son works his butt off at a hockey game, and always looks at me first, when he does something well

I love to hear my daughter sing, and act...she's one of a kind!!

I love it when my hubby helps me with something in the shop (but only when it goes well!!)

I LOVE spring, wondering what my flowerbeds are going to bring forth this year. I love to plant fall bulbs, and see what comes up.

I love the smell of rain.

I love a good book.

and I love learning new things.

The very first moment I looked into my babies eyes (15 and 13 years ago!) I fell in love...and still am. Being told you are a great Mom is the best compliment a lady can receive.

Having coffee with a best friend and contemplating life together.

Gardening at night! I love the smell of the dirt and the feel of the dirt on my bare feet. Our other houses all had great gardens that took years to get that way. This one will too.....just haven't owned it that long yet.

And of course there is nothing like being in love!....it really does make the world go 'round......and 'round....'and round.....

oh...........and sunsets!

Taking strolls around your neighborhood, or in a nice park with a loved one, I have to agree with most of what was said on the romantic side, but here's another one, but its not romantic. Buying a fixer upper house, busting a sweat everyday. Striping old lathe and plaster walls and redo them with insulation and resheet rock, painting, repairing electrical, bathrooms, roof, floors, etc. etc. and watching it come to life, especially after a few people made fun of you "for buying a dump!" but in your heart you think, it may be a dump now but soon it will be my home.

I love when I'm travelling down the road with my wife in the passenger seat, and we're talking about the future or the past and the perfect song comes on and we look at each other and start to get all misty because the love is just plain there.

I love when I interact with a child and they GET it and all the adults around are oblivious and we're like to co-conspirators grinning and giggling and nudging each other in the ribs.

I love innocent smiles.

I love the feeling in the morning when you are just leaving on a long road trip and the car is running well and you feel like you can reach anywhere in the world right from where you are sitting.

I love the feeling of taking off the final bit of mask from a complicated airbrush image to reveal the layers of color that you've laid down.

I love the feeling when you buy a new too/computer/etc. and get it out of the box and all you can think is "the things I will do with this thing!"

I LOVE the feeling of dinner at a Letterhead meet, when everyone is joking, telling stories, and laughing with each other. When I'm sitting with what would seem to be my brothers and sisters in arms. When the food is good, but it doesn't really matter because even if the food was terrible the company is just so good.

I love finding out that in some way, I made a difference in someone's life. When they say thank you, and I can wholeheartedly and sincerely say, "You're welcome."

I love finding posts like this that encourage me to reflect on what makes me happy. NOW I'm ready to start my day! (Thank you Donna!)

HAY! Now don't go accusin' me of stirring up a bunch of grumps! I was just giving room for folks to get stuff off thier chests...seemed that's what they wanted to do in Dave's post on phobias......remember?
OK...I have nice things to love about life too............like:
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Watching Martha Stewart show first thing in the morning..(no really).

Getting inspired to do something creative....
And actually finding everything I need to do it with (havn't got there yet, but I'm working on it)

A new piece of cookware, shiny and brand new

Baking bread from scratch

Fresh brown eggs, still warm from the nest

the smell of just brewed coffee

watching my hens scratch around in the piles of leaves outside my studio window.

Getting a box of junk sorted and having that box empty

When my cat snuggles with me

Looking back on pictures from all the wonderful Letterheads I've had the pleasure of meeting and especially the ones that have made me a guest in their homes

When I'm finally done with a window that was really difficult and signing my name

Getting the check

Boat rides!

Long trips

Takeoffs (planes)

Going to San Francisco and pretending I'm a tourist

Snorkeling in the Carribean with my daughter

Dancing in the hotel pool at 1 am with my daughter to the tune of 'Tequila'

The sight of my first fireflies on a balmy spring night in Louisiana

Shopping in Pikes Place market in Seattle

Clam chowder at 'Ivar's acres of clams'in Seattle

Reruns of Northern Exposure

Bluegrass music

Yeah......I have feelings too!!!!!
