I agree with the smoking, I don't allow customers to smoke in my workshop (I tell them we have flammable liquids around, which is true). Also on the road I have pet peeves - mostly folk who 'tailgate', drive too close to one's rear. Also customers who expect you to drop the work you're doing to drive out and 'do a quote' on some small job.
Customers who say they are getting "a few quotes".

Some things that can get under my skin once in awhile are:

When folks don't listen.

Constantly being interupted (or seeing others be) in mid-stories or mid-sentences.

Poor service.

Blatent disregard and inconsideration.

Busy signals when I just want to convey a quick message to someone. An aggrivating roadblock when you are in a rush.

Judgmental opinions and assumptions based on minimal information.

Listening to folks on talking loudly on cell phones in a public setting. Especially restaurants!

Having stuff I loan out come back "less than" when it was given out, without regard or comment about it.

People who talk ALOT about nothing really wear me out.

Customers that want to take as much time to pay me as it took me to do their sign!

People that are regularly late for appointments.

Telemarketers at dinner time.

Signs that look like the maker should go to school to learn basics of lettering and design.

Finding beautiful wilderness areas being damaged by off road recreational vehicles.

Vulger language, spitting, and greed when it's obviously hurting someone else.

Double doors but only one unlocked ( I always pick the wrong one)

Breakfast joints that only butter a 1" circle in the middle of toast.

That darn coffee shop down the street. Have been getting coffee there for 9 years and they still get it wrong once a week.

Of course the list goes on, but typing happens to be one of my pet peeves also.

People that pull out onto the highway right in front of me. Nobody behind me, but they can't wait for me to go by first. 9 times out of 10 they drive well below the speed limit then turn off the highway within a half mile of making me slam on my brakes to keep from rear ending them. grrrrrr

Drivers that make you wait at an intersection because they don't use their turn signals.

Cockeyed morons who come into the shop, barely getting one foot in the door before blurting out the word PRICE almost before saying howdy. Then, proceeding to peck their fingernails on freshly painted redwood or HDU signs ,saying "what's this made of?" or raking their fingernails across the sandblasted grain in an apparent attempt to see just how much punishment the grain can take before sustaining sufficient damage to fail their quality control durability test.

Telemarketers who call anytime of the day but especially at suppertime.

People who that send me an e-mail and then call five minutes later to ask why I haven't responded to said e-mail!

Customers that bring their dog in and let it terrorize the shop! (I love dogs, bring mine to work on occasion, but I would never dream of taking mine to another business)

Whiney 'Negative People'... you know the ones that have absolutely NOTHING good to say about anything or anyone and suck the life right out of you when they feel you need to hear them drone on and on and on.

The bickering, bullying and guilt tactics about "donating" to this site.

"Judgmental opinions and assumptions based on minimal information." I agree with Nettie on this one ...and it covers such a broad perspective. Covers a majority of this list succinctly.

Ignorance is just 'not knowing'... my pet peeve is the people who refuse learn or to at least try to learn and then blame others for their ignorance.

Liars. It blows my mind how someone can lie about something straight faced and live with themselves.

The smoking Moon with barking dogs... bummer. LOL

Adrienne- I'm not taking your pet peeve personal. I'm just finding the humor in that the first list of pet peeves nailed me 100%. I do try to 'not smoke' around people that aren't smoking. My dogs even irrate me, BUT... I know when someone's on the property though, or even thinking about coming on the property. I usually yell at them to "eat them and get it over with!" and the next sound I hear is scampering drunk feet. (We live down the road from a Bar that apparently sends off quite a few patrons with their "walking" papers.)

If you can't laugh at it, it will kill ya. (That's how I deal with this list.)

Where to begin?

Customers that are in a major hurry for me to give them an estimate or bid a job, and then take their sweet time ordering or never do (from anybody!)

Customers that have to have something right away, and then three weeks later it's still sitting here.

Our judicial system.

Government supported & funded atrocities like abortion.

People who drive slow.

People who bring screaming kids to restaurants or weddings.

People who smoke indoors in public places.

Telemarketing.

Country music (my favorite oxymoron) played in public.

Property taxes & income taxes.

People who let their dogs run loose.

There's others, that's just what immediately comes to mind.

My pet peeve is having to stand around waitng for my customer to tell me what to paint on windshields. After calling an hour ahead and giving him a white china marker to mark them with. MY TIME IS VALUABLE!

My pet peeve is well-meaning relatives who stop in to chew the fat. Just because I work outta my garage and/or home (if it's too cold!) doesn't mean I'm Donna Reed, complete with an apron, ready to bake brownies and brew coffee at a moment's notice!
I cringe when I hear the crunch of gravel in the driveway and wipe the one-shot from my hands, only to find that it's Uncle Sticky & Aunt Starkist paying a social call!
Because I don't have a "real job", everyone feels free to waste my sign time.
I guess I'm just cursed with popularity or something. I swear, one of these days I'm gonna substitute Tinting White for their Cremora! GRRR.
Thanks for letting me vent. And thank God for Caller ID, I can see who's callin' on the sign line!

People behind you in the neighboring lane who interpret a turn signal as a prompt to speed up so you can't change lanes.

SIGNS:
People who consistently come into the shop the day before they need an impossible project done, and when you decide to do them a favour and "rescue" them from their own lack of foresight, they say "Be nice to me with the price, okay?" (yeah, buddy, I got yer "nice" right here.)

TELEMARKETERS:
The ones who call right when I'm standing in front of a great big substrate holding a large graphic, liner removed.

Street peddlers who invade your shop.

cold winters with no snow to play in. I mean, what's the point?
