Happy New Years Eve everyone!

The manual that came with our Roland PNC 1210 leaves alot to be desiered. It says I have a max cutting width of 23". Should I setup my paper size as 23" or 24". Too often I get part of the image "Cutoff" and have to reduce and re-cut.
Currently I am getting setup to cut on 15" vinyl. Do I set my cutting width to 15" or use a lesser amount.
I have played around with this and would like to know how I should do my calculations.
I'm using Corel9.

Hi Brian,
I've the same plotter.
Before plotting i make a rectangle in the screen 23" by 90" (any longer and i find it spools off). I then fit the graphics to be cut into it, nesting manually and then send it to the plotter, but not the rectangle.
I buy in 610mm width vinyls and find this most economical.

Thank you for replying. I have had trouble cutting something 23". Are you actually setting your paper width to 23" also? I setup the printer first, then do the page layout setup.
What is the max. you can cut on 15" material?

Brian,

On my roland model-cm300 the maximum width I can cut is the distance between the pinch rollers and there are different positions I can place the pinch rollers dependent upon the width of the material.

I have a 30 inch cutter and the maximum width I can cut is about 29 inches.

Make sure you set your page size width equal to the distance between the pinch rollers and every thing should cut properly.

I have a 1210 and it gives you the measurements if you use the the select sheet function and go to the edge function and it will measure it for you and bring it up on the screen for you and if you have a piece of scrap it will measure it for you if you use the piece function

The cut area is defined as the area between the pinch rollers. The pinch rollers are about 1/2 inch wide.Hence, you can cut an area that is one inch less than the width of the material. If your design is larger than that, it will leave an uncut area. You have to allow for a little fudge factor in addition, unless you are awfully good at lining up the material. You should be able to download the manual from Rolands' website. www.rolanddga.com

Brian..As a general rule..when cutting from Corel to a Roland cutter.... Knock off 1.01" off the width of the vinyl roll. 24" vinyl needs a page setup of 22.99". 15" vinyl needs a page setup of 13.99".
