I’ve been practicing airbrushing so fare with acrylic paint and want to make a go of it on vinyl. What is the best paint to use that would adhere to vinyl, preferably low odor. And should I treat the vinyl first.

For your airbrush use "AutoAir" from Air Bear.

Hey Jimmy, I'm doing a cool project right now for a boat. It's called "Flipper" with a cartoon of a dolfin. I'm doing the dolfin on vinyl, first sprayed with Krylon blue-green, then all of the OneShot paints will stick to that. After I'm done I'm going to clear it with Pelucid. If you get some enamel receptive vinyl, you can go straight with enamel.

thanks Robert; sounds good that pelucid you mentioned is that oil base. And come in a spray can.

Hey again, You can find Pelucid on the suppliers page. Click on "St. Marie Graphics". No need to spray Pelucid, It flows well with a brush or roller. Or if you want you can spray it. It's an automotive one part clear. Super hard, with UV inhibitors. It will go on vinyl, paint or whatever without lifting the background. Unlike some of the other urathanes out there. Three coats for maximum durability. Also, it is strenthend by moisture!

I have found that the Createx Auto air works well - I heat set it and put a protective coat when I have finished the painting.
A flash spray of Froggy Juice and 1-Sot works fine also, but it's not a low smell zone. I like the convienience of not requiring another set of paints.
