What do you use for sanding the edges of your fancy shaped redwood signs?
Ever used one of these? I'm drooling It's an oscillating, variable speed spindle sander made by Porter Cable. Uses 1/2''-2'' drums. Got to be a serious toy. Weighs about 10 lbs.(4.536kg) Like it?

Cool Tool! Porter Cable makes some serious industrial tools. Whenever I get a big job I go down to Westcoast Saw & buy a nice tool for the shop.

I finally gave in. Ordered it yesterday evening. Just sabre-sawed out a 96''x26.375'' redwood sign with all kinds of curves and corners on it.
Soon to start on another 8 to 10 footer.
I think thius contraption will save a lot of time.
Yes I like PorterCable tools.

Wayne, Great looking tool and very useful I would think. Porter Cable is 'just down the road' from us here, they're in Jackson, TN about 40 miles away. The last several power hand tools I've bought have been Porter Cable and the quality is very high. One give away on the quality of corded power tools is the cord, if it's stiff it's made of cheap rubber and most likely the tool is cheaply made as well. All the Porter Cable tools have cords that are flexible and limber as a wet noodle, even as cold as it is down here right now I can pick up a tool and unwind the cord and it'll lay down. I was introduced to these tools a couple years ago when we done the design for their 'Porter-Cable/Delta Machinery Racing Team' posters, banners and racing schedules, etc. Was glad to get the job but was also glad to get try some of their great tools. They're a little higher priced than a lot of other brands but well worth it because of the quality.

I'm a Porter Cable convert. Used to be big on Makita. But the last 3 tools I've bought are P.C. Plate Jointer, brad nailer, and last week a plunge router. Aside from the obvious quality of the tools, I'm impressed with the assessories that come with the tools and a nice case to keep everything in. Delta makes great stationary tools. Dewalt have nice cordless tools. Norm's still my hero. www.newyankeeworkshop.com
