I own and run a small shop. I am losing my health ins. because the "group" is too small. I have a "pre-existing" condition. But there is a law that says I can change from "group" to "group" and the new co. has to take me.
Does anyone know of a "group" health insurance available for our industry???

The law says that but in reality they will charge so much that no one could afford to get it.

Check with your local Chamber of Commerce and the NFIB ( www.nfib.com ). My wife's company has theirs with the NFIB. Her mother has insurance through them and she has a pre-existing condition.
You might try United Healthcare. I know they do a lot with small businesses. I have an 800 number for them, but it is probably not a "sales" number, but maybe they could tell you where you would need to call. 800-999-1147. Also, I have heard of a company that lets small business kind of combine together to get large group rates. Supposedly this company lets small bus offer the same benefits, pretty much, as large bus do, by pooling their numbers together. I don't know any more about it than that, though. I don't have a name for the company but it is my understanding they are on the web. Sorry I don't have any more info about it, but that might be a start.
