Customer just brought in several old metal cola signs. They have been in a box for 40 years. Unfortunalty, they were stacked together with a sheet of brown wax paper in between each sign. Over the years the paper has attached itself to the face of the signs. We sacraficed one and used it as a sample. We have tried everything around the shop, but alas...we can't seem to get it off.
He has a value of $300-$400 each if we can get them clean. They have never been out of the box.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This guy is "bummin".....

If soaking them overnight in Mineral Turpentine don't work ... we use that to remove the wax paper off old acrylic sheets ... try boiling them up in a drum of water. At least both methods shouldn't hurt the signs.

Jackson; It doesn't sound like you are going to get them back to original condition because the paper may have altered the pigment in the finish. Why don't you tell us what you have tried so far so we can run up a list of what others think.
