One of my ole buddies....a real old Langnickel truck flat....well...he just didnt cut the mustard anymore... So...I clamped him in a pinch clamp and suspended his whiskers in a nice bath of laquer thinner..carefully attending to the fact that they must not touch bottom...or they would quickly become crippled and bent... After a 3 day bath...the heel that had mysteriously hardened up from what I can only attribute to improper cleaning on someone else's part..not mine since I would never be that careless...began to soften..Hey..wait a minute..I never loan brushes? Next ..out came the wire brush...it was a painful act to commit...draggin those nasty wire prongs over those tender whiskers!!But a lot of old paint came out.... All this abuse left the heel all puffed up like a salon fresh hairdo...So...next came a good "heel squeezin with a pair of vice grips...That lil 1" flat let out a beller...you could hear it all the way to town...."Man.......Yer crushin my butt!!!!!!" Next...a nice warm treatment in fresh brush oil... and an afternoon of rest... Today ..it was back to work...and the brush performed like a champ.... Better take better care of his brothers and sisters...thorough cleaning....every time... Theres a retirement community corner on my brush bench....theres a lot of empty handles there....some worn out liners...some of em look like a man with half his teeth missin....dont have the heart to pitch em out..its too easy to get attached to a brush anymore.....

I bought a set of small "wire" brushes a couple years ago, one is stainless, one is brass one is some sort of fiber, all are very fine and the ends of the bristles are smooth. I only use them when the Gremlins borrow my brushes and they are sorta rough on the ol' boys but it beats losin' a fave...
These brush sets only cost less than $5.00

I have brushes well over 15 years now and still going strong!! I would never take wire brushes or Lacquers to them!!! Would you wash your hair in lacquers or scrub your skull with a wire brush I hope not. Useing a good non detergent oil and letting it bath for a few day will soften any paints on the brush then gentle massage the hair housing between your fingers will loosen up the particles. If needed, do again and again until the brush is free of the paint flakes.. I have spent to much money on it to own and it's going to give myself the best performance until the bitter end... Oh I'm sorry I thought you guys were talking about Tooth Brushes. Hey at a buck a piece, use and abuse them!!!!!!!
