The best book i've ever picked up on the subject of carving is "high relief wood carving" by william j. schnute. covers tools, techniques, and the pics of his work, including a step by step of the most outragously beautiful carved oak piece you'll ever see are included. this book has been out of print for approximately forever, but just found it on amazon.com, and it's on sale now for $11.96. if i could afford to do so, i'd buy every one of you a copy, it's just that good...but since i can't, best thing to do is to steer you towards it... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0806993367/theletterheadwebA/

Sounds good! You've convinced me to add it to my library. Have you considered a career in sales?
I used the link on the front page of this site (so the Letterhead website gets a percentage of the sale, I believe.) Amazon had some deal where you can select up to two books for one US cent each when you buy a book. There wasn't a huge selection of one-cent books, but I found two that seemed interesting. Good deal
