Is there an easier way to remove reflective vinyl besides a hair drier or heat gun? Thanks in advance!

Yep.........."Remove-It-All" works, but there's a lack of understanding about using heat to remove film. It's not the heat that does it. To effectively use a heat gun you must have a COLD substrata. We do removals early morning or late evening. Virtually every "I give up!" case in our valley comes to us. Release of the film, intact WITH the adhesive is accomplished by using the applied heat to the film on a cold substrata. It's a delicate balance of temperature, but when properly done you can strip from left to right, angling the heat gun into the direction of travel and AWAY from the film you're pulling. The temperature difference is what causes the film/adhesive to release cleanly, not just the heat. Overheat it and the film delaminates and leaves the adhesive. With reflectives, sometimes, you have to judiciously "superheat". Chemical removal is sometimes the only answer for reflective. Typically the "Eraser" doesn't perform well on all reflectives, in fact on few of them.

I find the lil chislers great for removing reflective because of the delamination problem and then I use a citrus based adhesive remover which just smells like oranges which you have to leave soak for a few minutes and the adhesive come of like a pile of jelly works for me but don't get the substrate to hot reflective is a pain at the best of times when its old its worse

If I could sell you a machine that takes off the vinyl in just minutes without a mess, without chemicals, that dosn't hurt paint, aluminum, glass, whatever. Would you pay $1500.00 for it ? oh yea,it would last 3to 5 years with very little upkeep. Roger

Two words:
Stripe Eliminator
I keep a few of these wheels on hand all the time, and I get them from an autobody repair supply shop in town.
I've had great experience with this tool, although I haven't used it on reflective material yet.

Thanks for the replies folks, it was a rush job but I got out the razorblade, hairdrier and carefully peeled the mess off. Then I used the samples of rapid remover and rapid prep Roger sent me the other day (thanks Roger)and got the gunk off. Customer drove away with his new lettered truck a while ago and he's happy .
