i am working on a rough mural estimate and some design ideas just to get the ball rolling on a job.

the mural is outdoors on a freshly painted white wall (probably latex, but, not positive)

it runs about 80' long and 20' high. it will be an historical theme. i have been researching sites like dan's and belvedere. any other sites, please tell me.

it will be painted with ext. latex, sprayed with a clear.(hey, pierre, would this be a job for pelucid?)

haven't settled on specifics yet, but, i'm going for about 2/3 not detailed (background sky, mtns or ocean) and 1/3 detail--pictorial of some history....

anything else, hmmmm,

oh, there (hopefully) will be 2 of us and i'd like to do it in a 2 week time frame (yes, that means some new equipment, YIIPPEE!!)

thanks as ever for your eons of experience

Gee........this is the first time anyone's actually asked! Any exterior finished piece will be permanently sealed and protected by this schtuff. On an exterior mural it would make it extremely vandalproof. Has it's own built in UV protector so you can use any colors you want. Our largest exterior carvings in a fixed south situation look as bright today as they did three years ago. We should have the spec links up on our website by Sunday. I can't sell it into Canada because of your regs, but, when you're ready, call me on my toll free number and I'll get the name and number of a shop near you that'll get it for you and help you with the coating process. Make sure you post pictures of the finished mural!

Mural prices are even more all over the map than signs. In short, get all you can!

As you know we specialized in historical murals for years. The prices we got at the start were far less than what I would ask now, as the price is based on experience and reputation. After 80 murals and far more offers than I can handle we can ask a lot now and get it.

The mural you are quoting is a good size. A current bid for me would be $14,000 US plus ALL expenses(travel, lodging, paint, scaffolding etc.). But lots of places turn me down because of cost too. So bid what you think will get the job. If it helps to get your price quote mine and see if they blink. then quote your price.

I know i'm not the highest price by any means, and there are lots of folks who would do it for a lot less as well.

Good luck and have fun!
