I have an HP 6300 and when I try to scan into Corel Draw 8 it does not let me scan directly into Corel Draw. I scanned it into Corel Photopaint and pasted it into Corel Draw, but I was unable to manipulate the image once it was Corel Draw. Does anybody know how I can get a scanned image (a photo) into Corel Draw 8 and be able to manipulate it like a normal graphic ? (Basically, all I need to do is to resize it and then position it in Corel Draw).
Thanks for your help !

Amy...All I do is scan the image using the scanning prog I like..save it there and then "import" it into CorelDraw. Once it's imported into CorelDraw, I can resize it and position it any way I wish. Never tried copy/pasting a bitmap into Corel. I just always have used "import".
If "importing" doesn't work for you, send me an e-mail with more particulars and I'll try to duplicate what you are doing and see if there is another solution.

I am now using Corel 9...but I think that Corel 8 has the same trace feature...Go to C:\Program Files...Then double click on Corel then 2 click on Graphics 8,then 2 click on programs...There you will find the program called Trace.exe...drag this icon to your desktop....Now after you have scanned your image, save it as a tiff file..in a designated folder...2 click on icon Trace.exe and Corel Trace will open on your desktop. File, Open, then browse to find your scanned tiff file..2 click on it and it will open in the left window of Corel Trace..At the bottom of the tools on the left side you will see a pencil...click on this and this is the selector for the trace. Left click and drag your mouse over the image to be traced. Then go to Trace/ by outline, and then name your file and save it to a folder. You will now have a CMX file...This you will now open into CorelDraw, and do your corrections..In the past I used Streamline for tracing, but Corel Trace is the best..Once you do a few traces, it is so fast and very good...Good luck. Hi Amy,
I assume that you are trying to "Acquire Image" through CorelDraw via twain. I should work fine. If it is working for Corel Photopaint and not CorelDraw, something isn't installed right.
Try this.... Open Corel, open a new file, open the "File" pull down menu, click "acquire image", click "select source", and select the scanner that you are using. Then repeat the steps and after you click on "acquire image" click on "acquire."
That should do it for you. If not, try reinstalling Corel Draw and then repeat the previous steps.
Corel draw only allows you to edit vector type files. The best way to make your photo vector is to scan it in as black and white, line art. Then edit it in corel trace to clean it up. After that use corel trace to convert it to vector. You can also use adobe Streamline. Once you have it the way you like it you can open it up in corel draw and edit like any other corel draw file.
I would recommend you just cut and paste, or import the photo unless you need to edit it in corel. you can adjust the sizing of the workspace in corel draw to make the image the size you like. Then just zoom in or out as you like.
If you need more help e-mail me or ICQ 69910787 good luck, Wayne

If I scan an image as a bitmap then save and import directly into corel 8 then the image can't be rotated etc. When scanning save the scanned image as a separate file then import that file into corel draw.
