I have been doing temporary signage straight on the walls of our local art gallery for about 7 years and never had a problem until recently when the temporary signs started to fall off minutes after it was put on so I scratched my baldy head got no splinters and tried premium vinyl and it won't stick either lasts a day at the most the lettering is black on white paint so I investigated further and it turns out our painter had not long repainted the walls in this new teflon based plastic paint instead of the old cheap flat they used in the first place this is all only temporary signage as they change the displays all the time anyone had this problem and found an answer I have to do some permenant signs on the same wall and they won't stay there and they do not wan't to use signbacking they want it on the wall.

I do believe that your customer has "snookered" themselves. There is little, if anything that will stick to teflon, which is why they put it on pots & pans & baking dishes. They're also probably permanently stuck with using that type of paint if they ever have to repaint again. Think about it...what other paint will adhere to that wall now?? I can't see any type of self-adhesive letters that will overcome the problem that they've created for themselves.
Do a web search on Teflon. There's probably a web site out there that'll proudly give you the properties associated with that coating. Show them the reference, and let them find the solution.
