HELP!!! I have a 4x12' lit sign box that needs a digital print installed. The print will be on 7mil backprint, backlit film. 7mils isn't enough to have it stand up to the wind and rain, so I definetly need a lexan or other type of clear face on the front. But, how do I keep the printed piece from collapsing or condensation from forming between it and the face??? Any suggestions, PLEASE. (Classic case of open mouth, insert foot) Sure I can do that... No problem.

I've been looking for the same answer. I've done it a few times in one sided 4x4. I printed the backlit film and sprayed the image with clear acrylic or frog juice to help with moisture. Then mounted the image on the inside with strips of black or whatever color about an inch wide, just catching about 1/2" of the image and 3/4" on the plexiglass. The box hides most of it but what shows just looks like a frame. Never done any that big. You may have a problem with temperature and the film wanting to wrinkle. It should come back as the weather stabilizes. ( I think ) The ones I've done wrinkle when its cold and when the weather's nice they look fine again. I don't know of a way to attach it directly to the plexiglass except for lamination. I have a 41" laminator but you can't get a 48" piece through it. But whatever you use has to be clear or it will show when lit. If you find a better solution let us know.
Does your sign have a diffuser in it?? If so you could try taping it to the top of the diffuser and then sliding clear plexi in front of that to keep out the moisture. Just taping the top may give the rest of the image enough freedom to keep it from wrinkling.......Tony
