Awhile back, someone directed me to a woodworking website that has a hardware/plans kit to make your own panel saw. It looks like it would prob work well, but I was wondering if any of you had used this kit & were happy or not with the results?

How about a link or address for that site? I haven't seen it, but would be interested. It may be safer than the home-made one I have sketched to build(when I find somewhere to put it).

I made one of those panelsaws.. It is awesome. The plans came from a "shopnotes" magazine.. Issue #4, I believe. I bought all the parts I needed at the local hardware store for about $160 Canadian. The only hard thing to find was the bushings for the slide mechanism. But they were ealisy made from a short length of copper pipe.
I made one of the mentioned panel saws and it works great. Shopnotes sells a kit with drawings and parts to attach the saw, bushings etc. the rest you buy at the lumber yard. I'll try to track down the address. Ive used it fot about 4 years with no trouble and its very accurate.

I bought a gadget from Penn State 800-377-7297 that is a plate you bolt to your circular saw and an aluminum rail the plate rides on with ball bearing rollers for $90 and it works great- best of all it takes up practically no room.
