A very Simple way to get an OSMALTO Effect with Corel Draw
so can print for your presentations or Print in your Versacamm.
I was working on my new Sign for my Shop and wanted to get the look
of OsmaltO effect in my Design that way I can Digital Print.
So This is the way I did

1: I will select my object with the pick tool in this case it will be the
Black Background and go to Fill Tool/Texture Fills/texture Library/sample

 -
2:I pick Diorite From Samples , Since I’m going to use
Black OsmaltO I will set my main color Black.
Now I set Texture 18865, Brightness 16 just as the PICS
shows. now click ok.

 -

3: Here for the Oval I will use Vermilion OsmaltO
I will do the same as I did in the step 2 select my 1st Mineral
R219-G33 B77 and my Second Mineral R232-G120 B23
and third is the same as the first Mineral, I also set my
Texture and the rest as the Pics Shows.
Play with the texture the way you would like to have.
I hope this will be useful for someone

Sal, thanks a million.

By the way, how did you do the prismatic effect in the letters?

As a matter of fact, with the image upside-down, it makes a perfect looking "carved" letter also.

Peace,
Bob

Thanks Sal,

Up until now I have been doing that in Photoshop.

I'm really falling in love with Corel X3.

Thanks Guys!
Bob: the Prismatic Effect was done using the Bevel Effect in Coraldraw X3.

Sal that's great. I have a question.
Why is it that Photoshop seems to render effects faster that Corel? Seriously, I would love to be able to show those effects in Corel, but it just makes my puter chug , and chug, and chug. What I have been doing is 2 files. The first in Corel and then drag/drop to PS. Anyone else have this issue?

Mike,

The only way to fix it is to quit trying to run Corel on a 286 with just 2 megs of ram.

Mike, you can greatly speed up corel by breaking up 'effects' after you apply them.

Once you create a drop shadow group ar a bevel effect or even a contour group, go arrange>break apart so corel doesnt have to re-render the effect every time you move or do something.

Thanks Sal. Your tip was timely, so I put it to use on this design. Don't know if this shows the smalts background, but it's on the black. Looks good on the piece. I also used the bevel effect in Corel X3 for "Grandma."

Wow, Bill... that is a really nice piece, btw. I'm trying hard to find a flaw in it to make myself feel better... but can't find it!!!

Again, NICE!!!!

My honey made me cry yesterday when he showed me what he was doing. My Mom would have loved that sign! (Although she would have probably complained about her picture being on there.) She was known through out out the area for her pies and she taught me how to put three wheat leaves on each pie to vent the steam (notice the wheat). When she died a few years ago he talked about how he was going to do a memorial sign for her. He is making a couple smaller versions for my brother and sister for Christmas.
He made some major points yesterday! [Wink]
Thanks, Sal, for helping him make it even more special!

Bill- great work!... but I have an opinion...

to me to see such a perfect photographic likeness on an old-looking sign or label makes it a tad too modern, or computer-aided in appearance.

I think if you were to slightly posterise the photo, it would add to the old ambience greatly!

Alright Dave! You know how to "get" me!!!
