Has anyone here tried depth carving glass or acrylic using a sandblaster and liquid silicone rolled on as resist / masking ?

sounds messy when we can buy resist in adhesive backed sheets?

I've used it in wavy, uneven lines to get an interesting background texture, but not as anything that needs to be precise.
Edit - mine was on wood.

How do you get the silicone resist off without any residue? Can you get paint to properly adhere where there once was silicone?
