I've seen a lot of ads on Facebook lately for "Lucy"s. They show the person doing a drawing in regular room light. The only time I used one was at an ad agency and we had to use it in a dark closet
Anybody familiar with the Lucy?

I am familiar with these. The real name is "Lucigraph" and we called it the "Lazy Lucy".

I actually had one of these and used it for several years until I bought a copier that enlarged and reduced. I remember the light bulbs got very hot. The nice thing was that the glass copy board was quite large, something like 18" x 24". It enlarged and reduced images that you traced on the large glass copy board. The thing weighed a ton!

Eventually sold it to Mike Wiegert, a sign painter friend.

Curt, did you have to use it in a dark enclosed space?
The ones they're advertising are lightweight affairs that you clip to the edge of your drawing table, like a draftsman's lamp.

Dark space, absolutely, mine was ancient. With todays technology I am sure the illumination capabilities are much improved.
