Last week we had two sizable jobs call to say STOP.
They look at the uncertainty of the upcoming business climate and can't invest right now. One is a summer resort camp and they depend on reservations coming in now to predict their summer. Another store is wondering how the world might change regarding people traveling, and might just fold in all they've invested and call it a loss so they can maintain the balance they still hold. This is all very understandable. In our community we will most all either hold together and rise again or sink and be written in a history book for future generations to look back on.

Everyone is in the same boat. Customers we have been working with to develop new projects are holding tight in the uncertainty. The tap was shut off in a couple of days as this thing worsened. While we still have a few weeks work in our shop on the go, everything after that has totally dried up. I suspect it is going to be that way until everyone gets back in gear.

We've sadly sent our employees home to stay safe and hopefully not contribute to making this disease any worse than it needs to be. Our gates are locked and we are keeping our distance from everyone as we hunker down.

The danger from what I hear is that we'll be too confident, thinking it is over before the right time and in the process start it all up once more.

On the negative side, our business is looking to have the poorest year financially that I can remember. Its quite shocker from the busy times we were enjoying only a few weeks ago... but we'll get through somehow. On the plus side we, as a family, will spend more time together than we have for decades. We are trying to make the very best of that.

While we all carefully practice 'social distancing' we need to understand that we are all in this together - around the world.

Stay safe everyone!

I was heading back to the shop a little while ago and thinking about calling the shop from somewhere tomorrow to see if my phone works. It's been days without it ringing. I'd almost welcome one of those robo calls "Thank you for choosing Marriot."

Slowing down for sure. No cancelations, but I have not heard back on a few proposals.
I'm taking the time to do an art project or two I've been thinking about. Having no deadlines is kind of a relief, but it's wierd not knowing how long it will be.
My lady and I took a little road trip out to our favorite lake where we've been watching a pair of bald eagles, but the gate was locked. We decided to take walks around old interesting neighborhoods. It's amazing the things you notice when you take the time.

"But the gate was locked" That part I don't like reading about. Locked out of nature.
