I remember long ago when I had new years jobs and Christmas jobs. There were the mirrors behind the bar at the Lions club that got decorated annually, and some car lots, and Christmas window splashes. I have not seen that type of work in many years. Do any of you get specific repeat work of this type? Happy new year to all of you Lettervillians.

Happy New Year everyone. I used to enjoy window splashes. I think my first paid job was a Christmas window in 1971 or 2. I spent an entire weekend on it. As I was painting I saw on old guy across the street do 3 or 4 of them in a row and the letters seems to just fly out of his brush. His name was Tom Jones. He came over and gave me a few pointers. "Just throw some color on there, collect your money and move to the next one". He passed away probably 30 years ago but I still remember his deceptively simple, clean style. A nice, flowing script with outlines, and a few holly leaves. He had about a 2" flat red sable brush. Thanks, Tom.
