I built my easel with a 2x4 framework, and attached that with hinges to a 2x4 mounted to the studs on the wall. I used 3/4" particle board as the face, and an aluminium angle as the lip. It's nice because I can lift it up to have access.to the lost space behind as storage.

There used to be a product that you could use push pins on called Upson Board. I've been using it for fifty years.

All of the above. I made mine 4' x 16', Upson board over plywood and hinged. I also have a 4' x 8' sheet of galvanized sheet metal which is wired to my Electro Pounce.

have been using 1/2" sheets of drywall over 2x4 frame for years. Push pins and pounce wheel friendly
