I need to flatten out lettering enamel a bit to match the finish of some aged porcelain enamel signs I am touching up.

Chromatic used to have such a product, the local Sherwin Williams store has not a clue.

Can anyone direct me to a supplier of this product?

Any auto supply store that mixes paint for body shops will have flatting agent. It is usually in a paste format and you do have to play around with it to figure out how much to use.

Others have used talcum powder but I preferred to use a product designed for use in paint.

1Shot has a flattening agent too. If you are pressed for time, baby powder (talc) will probably work. It tends to get lumpy when going for a dead flat but an old porcelain sign probably still has some sheen left to it and you might be OK.

Matthews brand paint makes a flattening paste.

Thanks everyone. I am well aware of talc powder, have used it forever, and I did a test on this project and it just looked too gritty.

Will order some 1-shot flattener.
