I designed some postcards for a customer. I've done this before but I just upload to a printers site and get them mailed. He wants to use his own printer so I created PDFs with photos and vectors. They are large files to email ang I sent to a compressed folder but it didn't reduce the file size. Any suggestions?

Any decent printer will have access to an FTP download site, ask them. Big files are no problem.

That's what I normally do but my customer wants the files. He paid me well to create them and I don't care if he uses another printer. I'm wondering why a zip folder doesn't reduce the size.

Why not buy a small thumb drive then load it on that?

Then you can snail mail it to him!

That's what I'll have to do.

For big files I use a service like hightail.com... you can send files up to 250mb... just make sure you zip it into one file...

I just had to do this for a 60 mb file for my digital printing supplier. He told me about wetransfer.com It worked perfectly. You put in the email address of the person you want the file sent, and your own email address. Then you hit the upload button and choose all the files you want for free up to 2 GB. Then send. wetransfer.com then sends an email to your customer with a code that allows them to download the file. When the download is complete, wetransfer then sends you an email letting you know that your customer downloaded the files.

I have Dropbox. I had files sent to me with it. I need to figure out how to send with it.

Hey Chuck

The way I do it is just put the file in the DB folder, then right click to copy the link to the file, and email the link.

Thanks, Phillip. I'll try it.
