Is there a simple way to create a true vector 'box drop shade'?
I do not mean to duplicate the text and place it on a lower layer. I need to outline some text and have a drop shadow similar to the sample above.

Not that I know of. I have always used an older version of Flexi as my cutting program. It is archaic the way it handles fonts and for manipulating vectors, but the one thing it excels in is 3D blocks, drop shadows and outlining so I used to use it for that. But now I use Charles Borges de Oliveira's Old Stock Actions. t is an Adobe Illustrator plug in that creates a variety of fills, drop shadows and other lettering highlights. It will make vectors than you can pull out for cutting vinyl and is really great for printing. It's only $25. Best money I ever spent. I bought my copy through Creative Market. https://creativemarket.com/Borgeslettering/56658-Old-Stock-Illustrator-Actions
