I designed this thing in 2010, and it may be out of style by now. Submitted drawings to the planning department on April 6 and just heard they were approved, whichis very suprising to me because the thing is way over the size they allow in the county sign code. I thought I would have to petition them for a variance, guess not.

Waiting on the building department now. Evidently our county no longer has a full-time inspector. It's going to cost me about 5g's for the backhoe rent, forms, concrete, stone, HDU, paint etc, but I'm going to build it if I have to hock the wife's jewelry and mortgage the house. [Smile]

Glad she likes it. Maybe next time y'all come down, you can have dinner with us at our place, Maybe we can have some bluegrass pickers over for a jam session or something.

Inspiring!
I have been doodling with a "Real" sign for ourselves also. My alumapanel sign does not showcase my work or convey the message I want at all. You would think as a sign company we would have our own quality sign.
So, you have encouraged me to finish..Will post some photos for input. Thanks Wayne!
Good job on yours!

That's one mighty fine looking sign! Well at least you listened to the "three little pigs" story and you built yours from stone!
That will survive all this global change!

Howdy Wayne!

Your sign design is great - not out of style - it's a contemporary classic . . . so the design will hold up for decades . . .

If you hock your wife's jewelry it might become a contemptable tragic sign . . .

Someday I'm gonna visit y'all . . .

I'm still planning a one-day meet . . . maybe this fall . . .

Cool! We will plan on coming to your meet, Sheila.
Thanks!

It's been approved!
I still can't believe it because the sign far exceeds the allowed size in the sign code, but I'm not complaining. I just have to go down and pay for the permit and I'm ready to start buying/hauling materials. First on the list is almost 3 tons of 12x8x16 and 8x8x16 concrete blocks which I plan to store just inside the rolldoor of the shop, only about 50' away from the jobsite, to keep them as fresh as possible. That will nearly max-out my utility trailer so, I'll be going back for form lumber, rebar, mortar etc. Photos will be coming soon. [Smile]
