I'm trying to find a vector ready file for a 2003 chevy avalanche for the tailgate that has CHEVROLET embossed on it. I have a customer who wants to dress it up with some color.I realize there are lots of chevrolet vector ready files out there but this one has to be just right to lay over the embossed letters. Just thought it would be easier if there was a file out there already that I could use for that year/model. Thanks

It would be easier if you could find a vector image for sure.
But when doing these types of projects, I always found it faster to do a "tracing" of the embossed lettering, scan the trace, vectorize the scan and then cut the vinyl. More fun than spending hours on the internet looking for something.

Nothing to take away from Dave's reply, which would be my first choice of how to do that, also...but I would add that you might want to do a pen plotter tracing on paper once you have your vector art ready to go, and match that against to vehicle to check for any tweaks that may be needed.
Could save you some time and keep from wasting vinyl.

It's everywhere Dave, I took a custodian job at the school about four months ago to get some insurance and a steady paycheck. Still do signs before work and weekends. It's gotten more difficult the last few years. Money is still tight and I get a lot more price shoppers. For me, this business has become a roller coaster...

Oh yeah, for the original question I would probably take a straight on photo and a lot of measurements, and trace it out.
