Sometimes I go off. Today I was removing vinyl I had done on the nose of a curtain trailer. It was old and dried on real good. I was using a propane torch. And after about 30 minutes, I said to myself " What the heck are you doing? I don't need to work this hard,,,Yada yada yada yada!" I climbed down my scaffold, took down my scaffold, put it in the truck and left. I drove about 1 mile and thought, "Well you already have time in the job, go back and finish the job, get paid" I know that when it is all done, I will be happy. So I went back, set up my scaffold and finished the job. I guess I was just having a "Me" moment.

When I remove vinyl, I use a wallpaper steamer. It heats the glue, and makes the vinyl more pliable.
It doesn't seem that much as a chore... and when I'm doing it I just remember how much I'm charging per hour...

Agrees with Mark on method of removal, 1st time use was on vinyl that was so cracked & old I had never seen it this way even ever since & it came off. Yes hands were sore, & 2 of us worked it but a 8ft x 8ft 2 sides including final wash all in a day

Did I mention that there was no power where I was at. The water hose barely reached. I do think I will invest in a Wallpaper steamer. What make/brand would you recommend? Gotta watch the hair with the propane torch.

I use a Wagner steamer, buy it one of the Box stores Home Depot, Lowes. I think I paid $75.00
It's good on your skin too lol

I understand your "me moment"! I will not remove vinyl graphics, I just don't have enough time left in my life for that kind of work. However, admit - I do get talked into removing small vinyl graphics jobs once in a great while. As long as the vinyl isn't too old, a heat gun and nylon widget works okay, but even the small jobs make me extremely tired and sore - not always worth the pay.

It will thread on to a 5/8" arbor which is the standard size for all of the variable speed sander/polishers. It removes the vinyl and the adhesive but doesn't hurt the paint. Just run it at a lower speed and keep it moving. I use it to strip reflective off fire trucks, it does an awesome job.
