just did a job with it. 1" 4 X 8'.......16" tall caps, 11.38 lower case. i just ordered the sign foam, and plotter pen on paper for the lay out. for the job another brother cut and painted and hung it. [IMG][/IMG]

Got my sample last week and I must say that it is very nice. Visibly much smoother. Are there specs available like shear, compression, etc?

I'm glad you agree Dave. We developed something we call Mircocell Technology, it's the key to the smooth surface you will find all the way through. Here are the specs you are looking for.
Got my samples a couple of days ago...I'm very pleased with the product...a couple of questions...will Signfoam3 still be sold or will the Signfoam4 be replacing it?...also what about cost...will it be the same price as the Signfoam3?

Rusty, SF3 is no longer available to distributors, although you may still find some older stock. SF4 is priced about 15% higher than SF3. However, what we set out to do and what, give the feedback we are receiving we did, was to produce a material that is so efficient to use it more than pays for itself. The micro cell technology employed makes the cell structure virtually nonexistent. Your painting and finishing times will be cut by as much as 80%. You may in fact spend an extra $40.00 when you purchase the sheet but you'll save $400.00 in paint, primer and finishing time. I know that can sound like a sales pitch but in this case it's just the facts. This is the exact reason I am offering the rebate. I will pay for you to test it out and see for yourself if what I am saying is or is not the case.

Perfect. Thanks Joe. Can I assume that Sign Prime is still an excellent primer for SF4? Also, I've always used latex stain for backgrounds on sandblasted and router carved signs. Will latex stain without primer stick as well as it did on the more open cell structure of SF3?
If anyone is looking for SF3 at a bargain, Wensco has a small supply they are selling at a discount to clear it out for SF4.

Couple of things. SF4 has actually caused us to suspend SignPrime sales while we reengineer it. Thinner primers produce a superior result with SF4. Latex stains adhere great! Coatings and surfaces actually bond on a microscopic level, and under a microscope you would see SF4 does in fact have a textured surface. The key is a primer thin enough to work down into the small cells as opposed to bridging over the top of them. A small amount of latex conditioner, basically thinner for latex, will cause the latex to dry faster speeding up production, as well as stretching the paint further increasing efficiency.

Haha… That is sign makers math if I ever heard it! But in all seriousness this is what I i think you should do. Buy one sheet and but hold off on the rebate form. Try it out and see what you think. If it turns out that a salesman just can't stop selling and this is much ado about nothing, you can turn the rebate form get your $50.00 no harm no foul. However, if just maybe there is something to all this, then you have till the end of May to buy up to 5 sheets of material and stick it to the man. Remember only one rebate form per customer, so make it count!

Can I thin the SignPrime and use that? I have always used 2 coats of the Sign Prime on my Signfoam (15#). If so , how much. If not, can you e-mail me with reccomended brand(s)? I use only oil based paints.- no Latex. Thank you

I finished a sign last September using SF4. I will say that it does seem smoother than SF3 (not that I have used a lot of SF3), but it seems a little more brittle.

Diane you can thin your SignPrime about 25-30% and you'll get excellent coverage. You will have a finer painting surface with one coat that then you would have with multiple coats on SF3. We will send you some other primer recommendations as well.
Mark there are some changes to the physical properties, what you may be perceiving as "brittleness" could be an increase in compression strength. The up side of this is smother cutting. On a molecular level there is less tearing, which makes for better cuts and is easier on cutting tools.
