Such bad news - I was talking to him last week and he told me his eye had been fixed up and he was due for another surgery to address a different issue but he sounded very upbeat and the happiest he's been in awhile.
If you never got to know Timi (meeting him and knowing him are two totally different things)then you missed a talented, caring, intelligent, hilarious and completely unique brother of the brush. I shall miss him greatly.....

He was indeed one of the silent greats. We met at Kentucky Lake and was amazed at his talent. He impressed us with his knowledge and entertained us with his stories. He will sadly missed.

WOW what a shock.

I have watched Tim paint large portraits that looked like photographs, and I have watched him paint a 3"x3" landscape scene complete with 3/16" gold leaf lettering with an outline and drop shadow. He was indeed a very talented artist.

However, it is not his talent that I will miss.

Tim Barrow was a very good friend with a wealth of knowledge that he was willing to share with anyone at any time.

I spoke with him a couple times last week. Megan was speaking with him on Friday, and told him of this pattern I was making for a wall. He said he'd never do that with a pattern. Yesterday we did that wall and I wanted to send him a photo asking if he still thought a pattern was silly. Guess he won't be able to answer that. We enjoyed Timi staying with us and the projects we did together. We sure laughed a lot.

I can't thank Sonny enough for introducing me to Timi in Danville. What a life lesson I learned to not judge a book by it's cover. He was to paint the large Joe Cannon picture and when I met him he had a patch over one eye and a flask of moonshine in front of him. I gave Sonny a look like are you nuts! He said trust me. And boy oh boy what an honor to work beside him and hang out with him. Dang it all. Such a gentle talented genuine man. I will always treasure my memories of him.

Timi was one of a kind, and not only a fantastic sign guy but he was so proud of his children and always put them first...I have a great respect for Timi, a decent person. We will truly miss him.

It hurts to loose a friend, Tim worked on my mural at Ken Lake, and did a fantastic job of painting a local Blues Talent. We met a couple times and once he insisted on spending time with me at one of the walldog events. If you did not meet him, you missed a special experience. His talent was endless and his knowledge was mind blowing. There was not a thing that he did not totally have information about it. As Sonny said, he looked different from what he was. He dressed like a farm hand, but was able to speak as knowledgeable as a professor.
God bless you Tim.

It's sad to hear this. We had a good visit in Danville which was the one and only time I was around him. But in that short time I felt like I had known him much longer.

He had a great story about painting a billboard and falling into some Kudzu. He didn't like workin' with that darn old waterbased crap (as he put it).

I met Tim at Danville. I could have listened to his sign stories all week long. I'm sad I won't be able to listen to him tell stories anymore. Sad,,,,,

Trust me David...If you had ever met Timi in person, you would remember it!!!

As Bill said, he dressed and "appeared" to look like a farm hand, but he was one of the most talented and knowledgeable and funny people anyone could ever meet.

Shirl and I met up with him in Winston-Salem and he took over the wheel to take us to Jimmy Chatham's meet in Commerce Georgia. The story's he had to tell were sooo entertaining.

I will miss the opportunity to meet up with him again in this life. Hopefully, in another life

Rest in Peace my friend Timi
