Looking for font used in FISK TIRE logo http://oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=455061
I would attach photo but don't know how. Site above illustrates the font. They used various fonts but the one I need is the dk blue and yellow badge sign.
I've searched my sources for hours and tried to trace from poor images and ran out of patience.
Thanks for your help. jamescoover@att.net

Hi James.

If you read further into that forum that you linked to, the poster identified the sign as being from the 1920-30's era. Back then fonts were non-existant, so I suspect that this sign was painted from a hand-drawn pattern. Another indication is the poster's description of the dark blue background having a sandpaper texture like about 80 grit ( sounds like a smalts background to me ).

The closest font from this digital era is probably Belwe Bold, but you will have to modify the centre stroke of the upper case "F" to come reasonably close.

Hope this helps you out.

I agree....This font is someone's freehand creation...There where no computerized fonts in those days and sign painters used to give "the alphabets" their own twist.

However, the closest similarity I found was somewhere between Windsor and Clarendon Bold.

CLARENDON BOLD:

WINDSOR:

I, also, found this:

https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/results?ch%5B0%5D=w&ch%5B1%5D=&ch%5B2%5D=&ch%5B3%5D=&wtfserver=wtf_e_41&id=00294ed3535186d5000a40200000712c&glyphcount=4&imageid=0&x=75&y=42

I know, this may not help much.......but, at least, it is a start.

GOOD LUCK !

RD
